United-Kingdom MCS Chili pack without 17inch

Just specing up my MCS and really want the Chili pack but not the 17 inch wheels but my dealer says they can't/won't swap them for 16 inch wheels unless I pay for them.

This seems a bit strange anybody had any experience with this?

This is my first post.

Hi, welcome to MINI2.

You can spec it with 16" wheels, others on MINI2 have already done this, and I believe it works out cheaper!

I dont know the details, it might be worth searching for chili 16" and seeing what you come up with while waiting for a reply from somebody who knows a bit more about the process.

If you go for the Chili Pack you have to get he 17" Wheels. The only ways to get the 16" Wheels are:

Dump the Chili Pack and buy each item on the list seperately - Wroks out very expensive
As your dealer suggested buy the 16" Wheels and sell the 17" Privately
I didn't really want the 17" Wheels but there seems no getting away from them.

I had a Chili Pack Cooper S from BMW that said 'Chili Pack with optional 16" wheels'. And I'm sure other's have done it before?

There was a period last year when S Spokes were in short supply. So for a limited period they did offer the Chilli Pack with 16" Wheels and called it the Pepperoni Pack. This was never an official pack, more a stop gap until the supply of S Spokes could meet demand.

I knew about that one, but I believe others have done it since, maybe it was just their dealers 'did a deal' knowing they could sell the s-spokes on for decent money.

Just contacted a few dealers around my area and they say they can do it at dealer level, hopefully Castle York may change their minds tommorrow when I go in. Thanks all.

Thumbs down

Funny... I went into MINI Park West (London, UK) on Friday afternoon to check up on my MCS order. I said that I'd like to change from 17" S-spokes to 16" Monzas. They told me that I had two options (as mentioned above):

1. buy two sets of wheels, fitting the 16" after delivery
2. remove the Chili pack and spec items individually

No great loss, but I'll do neither. Might consider a wheel swap with someone else on the forums when I've taken delivery in a month, or maybe I'll love the 17s <shrug>

I'm not too impressed with Park West so far... buying a new car - especially a Mini - should be fun!

Maureen is my salesperson... but Matthew was there when I asked on Friday.

I just thought they might have been open to swapping over the wheels when the car arrives, or buying back the 17s... <grumble>

My sales person was Katie, i don't think Maureen was part of the team when i brought my car back in September.

Don't worry about the 17s, should be easy to sell them privately and then replace them for some nice OZ superleggers

If you want to do a swap then I'll probably swap you. On Monday when I pick up my MCS I will have a set of 16" R90's (cross spoke) in silver. The tires have only done about 10 miles as the wheels were replaced with aftermarket ones. The car has 16" wheels because it is one of the ones with the 'pepperoni pack'.
So if yours are silver 17" s-spokes then I'm interested in swapping.

How many miles have your wheels done?
If they haven't done too many and the wheels are in perfect nick perhaps you would want to swap?

I also didn't want the 17" wheels, but didn't particularly want Xenon lights either (cost of ownership) so I had to spec everthing 'manually' - the car costs virtually the same as the chilli car - but is as I want it to be (I also didn't need the interior light pack).

The dealer did warn though that anyone without a Chilli pack will be risking their residual value!

Can you please post a picture of them a.s.a.p.
My dealer has offered me a set instead of the s-spokes. They will do me a set of white x-lites which I want but I might not want to pass on the R90s one piece if they look as good as the pictures

See this thread

Well I don't get hold of them until Monday so I can't photo them until then.
I have seen them and they are in perfect condition.
I don't think they are the ones in your thread though. I think those in your thread are the 16" R90. They look somewhat different.
Looking around the other threads on the subject it appears mine are not the R90 but something else. Looking around it appears mine are the X-lites. See this pic for an idea of what they look like.
Sorry for any confusion.
If anyone still wants to swap for S-lites then lmk.
