Offline | I have had my 'S' for a year now. Love every inch of it. I have read great things about the JCW conversion, and have persuaded my wife that it would be a good move to get it converted. However in my mind I still need some convincing. Is there any body out there that has had the conversion and can comment on the practicality of the conversion in every day usage? Should I just through caution to the wind and have a 200hp monster??. Any comments greatly appreciated. Offline | Re: JCW Dilemma Duncs, from what most people have said, the JCWs conversion doesn't turn your 'S' into some kind of '200bhp monster', rather it gives it a moor mature, smooth and refind power advantage over standard. I don't think its going to 'scare' you with its extra power, just reward you. PS, how did you persuade your wife? I could do with some tips.... |

Offline | You don't want to know how they drive when they are alone with YOUR car...of course, she appreciates the conversion for her solo rides!! ![]() '02 Mini Cooper, all black, half leather (black, of course), glass sun roof, SS+, 16" 5-spokes, chrome exterior, MTH 137bhp ECU remap, Pipercross MINI Induction Kit |

Offline | Wife Persuassion? Well I could tell you some of the things, but the post would probably be censored!!!!!! The wife enjoys the mini as much as I do, so it wasn't difficult to persuade her that a upgrade could only make it better. Thought also if I got some posts on here will add to my fire power so she can't change her mind. I am hoping to get it booked in after my summer hols, but not sure what waiting times etc are like. anybody got any ideas before I call JC Garages? Offline | If you have had the go ahead from ( she who must be obeyed) then I would OBEY You will find as Tony*t3 has just said it is a more refined power. As to everyday driving you will noticed the car pulls smoothly in any gear and is less hesitant. Open the tap in 2nd 3rd and 4th and the grin will meet around the back of your head Be carefull though and DO NOT SNEEZE during this part as you will end up in the dyke I have found mine a pleasure fron EAR to EAR. Fuel consumption does not appear to have been compremised, in fact I think it has marginly improved. Come on Tony and LMB time you had your JCW Works S in your driveways ![]() |

Offline | I know I have had the all clear, but it is still a lot of money, not letting on to the wife, I do need to know its the thing to do. I do feel sometimes the car is a little hesitant and could do with the extra oomph, but is it worth the money, its a great little car without it after all. ( Better be careful here might talk myself out of it ). DS/W WORKS S, Cloth/Leather Black Panther, CHILLI, DSC,AUTO A/C, MFSW, CD/RADIO BOOST, XENONS, LAMP WASH, HEATED JETS, OBC. |

Offline | Seems the way to go forward then. Will sort out the readys and give JC a Call. If the wait is about 6 to 8 weeks, should give me enough time to save up ( I Wish ). Hopefully will have it booked in soon. DS/W WORKS S, Cloth/Leather Black Panther, CHILLI, DSC,AUTO A/C, MFSW, CD/RADIO BOOST, XENONS, LAMP WASH, HEATED JETS, OBC. |

| MINI2 Master | From personal experience it is definitely a better car than stock. Is it worth it? Well I and other JCW S convertees obviously think so, however there are other choices out there. Have a search on this forum for Hartge, GGR, Digitec and others and you'll find quite a bit of information. They're all cheaper than the JCW conversion, however most people seem to suggest/agree that the JCW feels the least 'aftermarket'. If that's what you want then spend those readies and do it quick before the old trouble finds out. ![]() |

Offline | If it is a great car without it just wait until you have a car with it As for is it worth it, thats for each individual to judge. Sure its a lot of money but for me I considered it worth EVERY PENNY. ![]() |

Offline | Have had my Works S for 5 days now and am loving it.... Yes, the car has a ton more power now but it is so smootly delivered that the car is EASIER to drive with the Works than it was without it. It will become a cliche soon, but if the "S" is the car the "Cooper" should have been, then the "Works S" is the car the "S" should have been. Is it worth the money? That is totally up to someone's personal opinion, but consider the following - The power gain of the Works kit over the stock S is aproximately 24%. The Work's kit, with installation, costs aproximately 28% of the cost of a stock S. So dollar per dollar, the cost is only 4% more than the S for the HP gained. US prices (tax not included,) assuming Works kit with labor costs $5500. Stock MCS - $19,900. Works MCS - $25,400. Price change aproximately 28% Claimed HP of stock MCS - 165hp Claimed HP of Works MCS - 205hp HP change aproximately 24% Now, the reverse math does not work out quite so nicely, so don't let the conversation go in that direction with your wife.... the MCS is a bargain compared to the Cooper, dollar per horse, but I think the math still stands. Yeah sure, you can do more for less with non-MINI sanctioned aftermarket parts... but you lose the warranty on the car and I doubt it's as driveable. So in my opinion, if you want to add more oomph to the stock MCS, make it a more driveable machine, and still keep your factory warranty intact, the Works kit to me is a winner. You might also get better gas mileage, which we will need to create some full color charts to really enjoy... but I'll let someone else take care of that if needed. ![]() |
