Nicely summed up.

Thanks for the responses on tires. I'd love the opportunity to drive esomeone elses MCS with different tires to see just how bad these RF's really are. Just went for another rainy-day drive in twisties. Plenty good fun Don't know if I'd need anything dramatically different in rubber, but perhaps if I tried it I'd wet my pants and grab for my check book.

I'm starting to put together a route for a run. Figure I'm not going to get a bunch of UK-ies coming over for it as it's only a day trip, but I need help with a name. Starts in White Bear Lake, goes through Washington County till it gets to the St. Croix River at Marine-on-St.-Croix for ice cream cones and a walk down by the river. Any suggestions?

Hi all. I'm still feeling a bit jerked around by my dealer. I wish they would do even just one thing to make me feel like a customer rather than just a sucker. On Friday, while I was on my way to Victoria, BC, I got a call from someone at the dealer (not my MA--she had Friday off) telling me my car's ready when do I want it? Oh, except for the JCW, I'll have to wait until midweek for that. I told him I'll wait but I can't pick it up until Saturday (the 5th). No problems.

Then my MA calls me on Saturday (while I was at sea) to ask whether I still wanted to pick it up Saturday even if the JCW isn't fitted. No, I don't want it until it's ready. Why is this so hard? I think if they make me feel one iota less that they want my custom I'm going to pull an Aiden and (really, though) walk away. Hmmph, I'm feeling grumpy.

Here's another question (yeah, I should check the tire/wheel threads): My MA tells me that defitting the RF tires from the S-Lites could result in damage to the tires so if they move them to my R90s they won't guarantee that they won't damage the tires, and if they do I'm on the hook to by replacements. Anyone heard this before? Then they want two hours labor ($95/hour) just to dismount the tires, mount them, and mount the new wheels. Does that sound reasonable?

The time sounds reasonable from what I've heard about RF fitting, but the damage/liability thing sounds like they really don't want you to get any extras. "Any color you want as long as it's black". "Sure we could sell you that, but you don't really want that do you?"

I've seen this a couple times, and it really escapes me. Almost feels like they are embarassed by their own pricing and feel guilty about it. Either that, or the head service person is a grouch and they don't want to make waves with him.

Nice to hear your keyboard though. Is work any less insane, or are you still in the depths of the mines?

no, I personally think 2 hours is a tad excessive... mine and monsta's tyres (which is 8 in total) were changed in under an hour at the same time. Actually, I had a good runflat swapped onto my bad rim (no jokes now...), so that's 9 tyres.

A proper tyre place might be more beneficial to speak to than a dealership who take 2 hours to change 4 tyres...

I got a new R90 under warranty last week. They changed over my RF with no problem in about 20 minutes

I will be losing the RF's on mine in the next couple of weeks......

I have to talk to our Goodyear place today about something else, so I'll have to ask them if they've had experience with rims just out of curiosity. I try to remember to ask for a time estimate if they do work on them.

Shane, maybe your dealer just doesn't have the right equipment to handle RF's

.....or maybe the tyre fitter is just incompetent and keeps wreckin peoples tyres!

Morning All

Been a busy weekend so have kept offline, back to work now so need to pass the time that's why I'm back

Had a shock this weekend as I've discovered my neighbour has got himself a Gallardo (sp???)
Looks the dogs danglies, even in the yellow he's decided to get
I didn't realise how small the car actaully is. I thought it was wide like a 360 but far from it.
I'm very impressed by how good it looks close up

Will take some piccies of it tonight with my roxy
That's if it stops raining

MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime

Morning everyone. About to go get myself crazy busy, too.

Martin: just keep the Vauxhall Estate out of the pix.

ohmab: Mad Brummie's right about the S/Cooper comparision. I own a Cooper & have test driven 2 or 3 S's (including a JCW) AND test-thrashed 1 MCS. I didn't start out a racer, either-but my Cooper made me that way. Now I've the opportunity to go to an S... oh my! Go to you dealer if it's convenient, and test drive both cars back to back. You'll be able to spot the differences. At the very worst, you'll have given yourself a fun day out.
