| MINI2 Regular | Re: My Spec Martin, went for almost the same spec as you, specced last week DS/B with the addition of the Air Bags, PDC, and 6-Disc. Swallowed hard when the dealer said £19,020 but I plan on keeping the car for a good while, I tell myself its instead of children, they cost loads I'm told. Adding my 2p's to the colour debate, I was all set for DS/W and no sunroof, but once I saw the sunroof I was sold, and then it had to be DS/B. I think the DS/W makes more of a statement and is more sporty, but the DS/B is a more stealthy, and when you're aproaching the speed limit you need to keep a low profile. If only there was a metalic black.Went for the leather, as this is the first car I have been in a position to afford it, and fancied a bit of luxury. Black leather becasue the blue was deemed too 'boy racer souped up escort-ish' by she who must be obeyed. As far as options go it is tempting to go the bare bones route, but I will be using this car for all sorts of driving, when you get off a flight at midnight and have a long drive in winter weather the luxuries come into their own. Some options and the thinking behind them: DSC: put my fiesta (don't laugh) into a wall after skidding on a bend on spilt diesel, wasn't even going fast, the perfect scenario for DSC. Sunroof: much lighter cabin, nice for stargazing, downsides are another source of rattles and the weight. Auto A/C: Purely cosmetic, love the logo arrangement of the buttons. PDC: Dad, who is strangely an excellent parker, said if you get one option get that, he wouldn't be without it. Downside, bloody ugly sensors on rear end. Well only 4 months to wait he's due on 19/11. Phew bit of a long one sorry. |

Offline | Re: Re: My Spec Nice spec. Nick Reasons why I didn't go for those options are: Air bags - I'm ugly enough so any more head/face protection is pointless ![]() PDC - Pretty Darn Crap , you can literally touch the rear screen from the drivers seat and those pimples on the rear bumper just spoil the look 6-Disc - I do actually want some boot space and besides I'm really keen on the CD in the passenger footwell look ![]() When is your MINI arriving???? | Nice TTs......... | Martin, Id agree with you on the PDC - it might be handy on a 7 series or S Class due to their length, but the MINI is SOOOO short, it seems like gilding the lily ! Im off work today, made it a really long weekend for myself ! ![]() ![]() Global Moderator |

Offline | What do you expect, a TV monitor like the Primera It's a BMW stock item and is audible only. My dealers demo has it and is pointless as the constant tone sounds at around 20cms which IMO is a lot of manovering room still ![]() MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. | MINI2 Regular | Yes it's breaking the bank three years of savings plus another three of loan repayments. This is my first 'real' car though and I'm hoping we will have many happy years together, hence getting over excited with the spec. It seems stupid that 3 years ago I couldn't afford the extra £500 quid for A/C on my current car, oh how I regretted not getting £500 more in debt on every hot day for the past three years, didn't want to make the same mistake again. I'm starting to regret getting PDC now after Martins comments, it wasn't on the demo car at the dealers. Must resist the urge to constantly change spec. |

Offline | Ooops sorry I wasn't trying to put you off? Try a BMW and then you'll see how they work. I'm happy with them in a beemer but I think they are a overkill in a MINI. MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime ![]() ![]() Unofficial MINI2.com bean counter |
