Offline | I told you it'd be a cracking car. ![]() I think the price is quite competitive. It's on par with the Mini. Global Moderator ![]() |

![]() ///M Power | Washy, Glad to hear things are looking better… ![]() If you’re considering a high spec tin top with the works kit, I’d be tempted to speak to JCG, as when I spoke to them last week they mentioned that they were planning a special edition which came with all the JCW stuff (tuning kit, seats, wheels, suspension and brakes) for a price which was less that the total of each if the dealer was to fit them… very and extremely elitist ![]() ![]() |

![]() ///M Power | I think I looked at a spec for one of those and It came to £25k without trying too hard... but I'll probably end up spending that on the mini, so probably competitive enough... although the review in CAR magazine did say that the JCW MCS was better ![]() ![]() |

Offline | What you would all consider hieracy, I doubt I'll ever return to MINI ![]() Yes a fully kitted 210JCW would be very nice but at around £25k it's far from good value for money IMHO. A few more thousand and you're into decent roadster territory e.g. Z4, S2000 ![]() MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime ![]() ![]() Unofficial MINI2.com bean counter |

Offline | That's the problem I think. Both are too expensive for what they are ![]() You can easily pick up a Clio 182 for much less then either. £20-£25k for either a MINI of Golf is a bit rich for me ![]() MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. ![]() ///M Power | I agree... especially when you look at resale... as all the options that take the JCW MCS up to 25k are probably not even considered when looking at the residual price... TBH I think it's hard to compare a fully fitted JCW to many other cars, especially at that price level. It's very much a specialist car and not at all main stream, unlike the new golf GTI which is a hot hatch for the masses. I know that if I actually fit the JCW kit and a few other bits, I'll be committing myself to keeping the car for quite a few years to try and get the 'value' out of it, as it certainly not a wise financial decision ![]() I do sometimes wonder if I would have been better off, putting the money into a second hand boxster or lotus ellise/ exige, but when I look at total running costs and fun factor, I think the MCS is hard to beat!! ![]() |

Offline | If the door with the LCD is the one with the damage I'd call out the repair guy and see what happens. The bloke that did our icemaker didn't spend more than 2 minutes in deciding to replace the whole unit. You might find that it's easier for them to change door than the electronics. ![]() |

Offline | I've always looked into the possibility of running a MINI as a weekend car since I got rid of my last, as I just can't take the risk again of living with one on a day to day basis again ![]() Then I thought if I get a weekend car why get a MINI ![]() An Elise or a more specialist car would be far more fun....but then having two cars again would be daft Hence my decision why run two cars, take the budget of two and get one quality car that does it all. Hence my plan to get a porsche boxster coupe in two years time ![]() MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime ![]() ![]() Unofficial MINI2.com bean counter |

![]() ///M Power | Sounds like a good plan ... How much are those Boxster Coupes again??? For me at the moment, insurance is a big driver in the car choice, but that'll be changing next year when I move to Scotland, and even more so in 2006 when Sarah turns 30. We also need to have two cars and both semi-practical... so the mini is perfect at the moment... but I'd love a porker at some point... but then again, wouldn't everyone ![]() ![]() |

Offline | I'm budgeting £40-45k at the moment ![]() Thinking I can get away with around £35k if I don't go for an S. I really need to see if it's worth the additional £6k. Personal circumstances could all change in two years time that could scupper this idea but at least for now it's a goal I've set ![]() MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. Offline | Agreed, but I have don't have much faith in MINI quality anymore ![]() Besides they just don't "do it for me".
