Hving said that Northampton Council are being really strict and will not allow a double garage on new developments.....I have had to do a backhander deal with the groundworkers on our plot to get a double width drive....

Councils are very strict, even worse with the Mayor of Londons Office.
Where we currently live in the plans it's for one space per car + 4 disable bays
However the developer has made the room for two cars per household and not marked the carpark
On this new development, it stipulates all road markings and parking must be marked out before the first resident moves in... they obviously have got wind to what happens.

It's diabolcal some of the planning regualtions, an apartment block we went to see had 36 flats, with only one space per car and 4 vistors bays...
Agent said to me most people only have one car... yeah right, where you're paying upwards of half a million for an apartment and the people only have one car
Case of great apartments, non-existing parking so we struck it off our list.

I think it's a daft way of trying to reduce cars by giving less room to park outside where you live. People will just park their cars down the road. It won't stop them buying them...

MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime

Welcome to my world Martin! You wouldn't believe the 'donations' developers have to make towards local public transport on large schemes! Where that goes is anyone's guess.

Looking at all the planning the developers have had to pay around £200k in council "contributions", from education to sports facitilies and even to ecological reasearch

There was a lot of resistance to the development my new house is on, both from locals and the parish council. I understand the developer has had to pay to have village roads resurfaced and put a section of footpath in amongst other items.

Makes my walk to the village pub easier though

Went and had a look at the new M3 saloon today. Not as nice as the coupe, but a little cheaper. In the showroom for an hour and we were theonly people to look at it.....

I fell in love with an Alpine white z4 3.0 sport coupe.......

Popped into my local dealer to have a look at the M3 saloon... not for me tbh... the coupe would get my vote. They also had 2 Z4M coupes... cheapest was an interlagos blue 06 model for only £29k, although it was quite a basic spec.

Not sure that any M3 makes financial sense to me at the moment. certainly not prepared to shell out £60k on one.... Dealers have stock cars they can't shift and used ones are at the £45k mark already....

actually sitting here looking for something else to replace the MINI with TBH....

Had great fun in the S Clubman yesterday and was surprised how well it handled still - though I still don't like the R56 dash controls Was nice to be back in a fun car again though

I agree with you on the M3's... as much as I'd love one, I'm not really that keen to spend that much on an 'everyday' car. I'm still keen to change the 1 series, but since it will become my everyday transport, it will get a fair bit of abuse. I keep coming back to the X5's, but I don't really need that much space, akthough it would be useful for the times we do. With used '07 3.0d's coming in at around £40k, they seem to be reasonably good value for what they offer.

You could do worse than get the 3.0 Z4 coupe as a replacement to the mini...and probably around the same price as a specced up Factory Works. It's a tough choice... not many cars out there really do it for me at the moment

A 135i would suit that, but maybe not along side the 125i conv.

Golf GTi/ R32?
