Gorgeous car. Unfortunately, I didn't win the lotto this week (again....)

I wonder, could this car be the reason that the GP has a silver roof? As a nod to history?

Horrid 13" wheels and stupid-looking arches to contain them; I much preferred the Cooper 35.

Not horrid, but not great to drive (for a Mini). I find the later cars the least appealing from an owners point of view.

Really??

I would have assumed that the drive would have improved as they perfected the design over the years... I mean... they did stick with it for quite a long time.

As with anything Andrew, the heavier you make a car, the more it affects the enjoyment aspect

Computers, Airbags, Stereos, Ventilation and other bits all added weight to the Mini - the best ones are the early ones

Ah, I'd just assumed that would have been offset by better suspension and extra engine oomph.

Exactly... the late ones were burdened with stuff like leccy windows... and the 13's arent great...
for me a classic should be on 10's...

I've never actually been in a classic. I nearly got a ride in one once at a classic car display - but the owner changed his mind when I mentioned I had a ONE. Gutted.

Never actually owned one myself, but my mates mum had a 1980 mini city that they gave me some driving lessons in. Spent my fomative years tooling round town in that car....guess that is where I get my passion for them from. My fist car was very nearly a black 1275GT but got talked out of it.....
