Offline | manual? Is the MCS's getrag transmission really as hard as I have been hearing lately. Like its tough to get into reverse and shifting is precise? I a little older then 16 1/2 and I do have my license. But I've been learning manaul on my dads 89' Porsche Speedster( still scares me to take it out.) But if I can drive that car with little to no problems you think I will be able to thrive with the 6 speed Getrag?? |

Offline | Once you get used to shifter you'll love the six speed. Some people complained about the thing is hard to get into reverse. We don't have any probs with the shifter gate. I sorta like stiff reverse gate springs. It's a lot more betta than downshifting into reverse at speed. My technique is to slap the shifter ball to the left and push forward all in the same motion. Here's a long thread: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...hlight=reverse Battleship Grey Metallic/B/B MCS with every option known to man/BMW less CD changer and NO car problems. |

Offline | I've never driven a car more precise than the S2K - but part of that precision is the responsiveness of the throttle.. If you're looking simply at the gearbox - MCS is great! However, I have found the S2K to FEEL quite a bit more precise b/c the throttle response is instant - where in the MCS there is a bit of a hesitation. This hesitation is a little hard to get used to - especially when downshifting (if you're trying to match the revs) - but with a little practice, it can be done ![]() |

| MINI2 Senior | well it starts off to be real stiff.... then gradually smoothens out i had my cousin drive the car when it was new and occasionally during its lifetime.... now ive done 23K kms on it and let him drive it, well he was amazed to see that it was really smooth well the reason for this is that i evetually got bored of this difficulty and started to use the gearbox as u would on a dragstrip.... to cut it short kick its ass if it doesnt give up k? ![]() |

Offline | DBW is weird...really weird...I don't know too much about it, so I might be way off when I say that I don't think BMW should use it...it just seems to slow stuff down.. It's a good thing the Mini is so fun ![]() |
