| MINI2 Newbie | Speeds and Colours Hi All Quick couple of questions: Does anyone know what kind of speeds you can get from a Cooper S through the gears and under 4500 revs? The reason I ask is that I pick up my Cooper S on the 1st September and have a 500 mile round trip (mostly motorway) a couple of weeks later. Whilst this is great and should eat up some of the running in mileage I just want to make sure that I can vary the revs enough through 5th and 6th (maybe 4th) and still keep around the 70 mark. Second question, does anyone have any pics of a DS Cooper S? Before the flood gates open, I'm looking for all over DS rather than DS/W or DS/B. Cheers Matt |

Offline | My car was run in quite a bit on the motorway and you can easily vary the speed and gears to get the desired variation for running in ![]() It actually makes motorway driving far more interesting trying to vary the revs and speed ![]() MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. | MINI2 Newbie | thanks all for the info bigbaddaboom, I'm not surprised it was a bit of struggle in 1st, I could only just get to 70 in 1st on my CBR600, although it did get there in a little over 3 seconds. I'll see if I can dream up some more excuses for going for random spins, purely in the interest of science! Martin, I'm sure the motorway driving will be fine, can't wait for the overtake, drop back, overtake, drop back, style of driving for a few hundred miles, sounds like the way to go. Its got to be more fun than just sitting there with a numb foot for the journey anyway. OnlyS4me, thanks for the pic, I was beginning to wonder whether any existed, I know its a slightly unconventional choice and not really following the cooper origins but I think it has potential. The good news is I just received my chrome GB letters today to add a bit of classic mini. Nothing like buying things for a car you don't even have yet, roll on 1st Sep! |
