United-Kingdom Speeds and Colours

Hi All

Quick couple of questions:

Does anyone know what kind of speeds you can get from a Cooper S through the gears and under 4500 revs? The reason I ask is that I pick up my Cooper S on the 1st September and have a 500 mile round trip (mostly motorway) a couple of weeks later. Whilst this is great and should eat up some of the running in mileage I just want to make sure that I can vary the revs enough through 5th and 6th (maybe 4th) and still keep around the 70 mark.

Second question, does anyone have any pics of a DS Cooper S? Before the flood gates open, I'm looking for all over DS rather than DS/W or DS/B.

Cheers

Matt

3500 in 5th,

I'll add 4th in a mo when I can find out....

Thanks. I know you need to vary the revs when breaking in so just wanted to check what the options are. Also don't want to drive all that way with the same engine note

okay just to add...

2900 in 6th,
3500 in 5th,
4200 in 4th,
5300 in 3rd,
7000 in 2nd

Sorry but I couldn't quite make 70 in 1st....

Ah the fun of just going out for a quick jaunt just to answer somebody's MINI2 question...

My car was run in quite a bit on the motorway and you can easily vary the speed and gears to get the desired variation for running in
It actually makes motorway driving far more interesting trying to vary the revs and speed

thanks all for the info

bigbaddaboom, I'm not surprised it was a bit of struggle in 1st, I could only just get to 70 in 1st on my CBR600, although it did get there in a little over 3 seconds. I'll see if I can dream up some more excuses for going for random spins, purely in the interest of science!

Martin, I'm sure the motorway driving will be fine, can't wait for the overtake, drop back, overtake, drop back, style of driving for a few hundred miles, sounds like the way to go. Its got to be more fun than just sitting there with a numb foot for the journey anyway.

OnlyS4me, thanks for the pic, I was beginning to wonder whether any existed, I know its a slightly unconventional choice and not really following the cooper origins but I think it has potential. The good news is I just received my chrome GB letters today to add a bit of classic mini. Nothing like buying things for a car you don't even have yet, roll on 1st Sep!
