Offline | uk lead times for oct / nov Hi guys ang gals this is my first post on here. this place is very infectious.. after browsing for a few weeks anonomously, i took the decision to join and contribute, firstly this site us a great resource for mini owners and the forums are very informative. after reading all the information here and making a rather excited decision, i have finally placed an order for a cooper s last weekend. i was told that to expect for a october build date and a november delivery date. i expect to hear from the dealership soon. to confirm this. anyone else buying one that has an idea when they will arrive, so i can start to get excited. further queries that you guys could answer are: 1) whats the run in period for the coopers, miles and rev limit guides 2) tips on receiving the car from the dealership, what to get done before taking the car home. 3) care and driving tips for the run in period. 4) suspicious mpg quotes, what should i expect during the first 10k? 22-25mpg? keep up the great work on this forum and i look forward to chatting with folks soon. | AWOL | Welcome !. 6 weeks sounds good, I waited 7 months for mine and received it about 3 months ago now... In answer to your questions :- 1. 1,250 miles under 4,000 revs, at varying speeds (not a blast up and down the M1 at a set 70mph!) 2. It should be well PDI'd, make sure they throw a tank of fuel in !!! 3. Vary speeds, try to mix it up between A roads/motorways/B roads it all depends how long you intend to keep the car really, if you plan on having it well after the warranty has run out its worth running in properly, and maybe an oil change after the 1,250 miles. 4. My S is three months old now and has 5,700 on the clock, I guess I must have averaged about 30-32mpg (calculated not the computer figure !) the OBC currently shows i've had 35ish MPG average... (I wish !)... I do use Shell Optimax which in may case certainly makes it run smoother And last of all enjoy !!! |

Offline | Ordered 1 Aug to replace my DS/B and could have had delivery on 1 September. However decided to wait for 2004 model year - build week 36 apparently. That has now gone out to build week 39 (7 Oct) for reasons my dealer couldn't find out and according to them nothing is being built weeks 34-39 - doh!!!! I don' know whether thats all bull***t or not. My average calculated consumption in 13,000 miles is 26.2mpg in mixed but mainly town driving. "S"parky |
