I had mine since the 1 Sep 2003
1 Rear window and passenger side window had a mark in the outer black bit. Windows replaced.
2) Black strips each side of the rear window scratched, replaced now
I love the car

Had my Cooper S for just over a fortnight and nearly 800 miles - Engine yo-yo's (slightly) and the single cd jumps - still love the car though!!!!!

Thought that the drivers seat started to creak at the end of a 100 miler - appears to have disappeared though....

<<I have to wait until Dececmber to actually order an MCS, then oh the long wait(how long is it anyway?)>>

Depends which dealer you order from. Last week one dealer quoted November and another quoted February.

I've managed to wait one week so far but I think I'm driving everyone around me mad. My wife has even bought an RC model of one to keep me quiet!

I have 300 miles on my 04 MCS.
no stumble; slight yo-yo in 2nd gear but nothing to be concerned about.

Dealer is still getting used to the new software; they haven't been able to program my car exactly the way I like it yet. My dealer was flooded with 82 new cars in one weekend, so the technicians really haven't had time to figure the new software out yet.

Alignment was off from the factory; adjusted by dealer.

Other than the above, which really aren't problems, everything else is perfect.

Picked up our 2004 MCS last Saturday, the remote keys don't work, so we're using the the keys the old fashion way... Dealer ordered new keys and we'll bring the car in to program new keys later...

so anyone else with the same problem?

My MCS was delivered with working remote keys. I can unlock/lock the doors and hatch as well as open the windows using my keyfobs. Requested features were also programmed before delivery like the Daytime Running Lights.

I honestly don't understand why so many have accepted cars delivered with non-working remote keyfobs.

Not an 04 not ... I got one of the last of the 03 builds... Had it now for over two weeks just finished the break in period. Only issues I've noticed is a slight yo-yo between three and four thousand RPM accelerating hard (mostly in 2nd or 3rd), alot of people stopping/going out of the way to say waht a cool car.... oh yah and the BIG goofy grin on my face!

Cheers and enjoy your car and never mind the little rattles....

Out!

The dealer is 100 miles away, car arrived last Monday, we didn't pick it up til Saturday, so we thought they had plenty of time to work things out... well, we thought not, i guess they had been busy with other 2004 owners taking delivery... they had problems programming the key that Saturday morning, and we were there and there was nothing we could do... the car turned out awesome, we got free window tint which was a nice touch... we don't really mind driving back there to get new keys prorgrammed... (we'll find a fun route to go down there)

but one thing tho, the dealer knew there were problems with the keys, and he didn't go over the key buttons when he went over the car, but he thoroughly went over all the other functions with my girlfriend... I had the MINI pickup checklist in hand, but I didn't go over every single thing... we stop in the middle for lunch, and found out we couldn't lock the car with the remote... called dealer told them we would be back in 30 minutes to get that fixed, and was told they ordered new keys and stuff... so it was my fault that I didn't check everything before driving off with the car, but we were so excited that it just escaped me...

anyway, is non-working remote keys a common problem? I searched the forums and couldn't find much info about that...

Andrew I understand completely. This is not a common issue and I have only heard about this surfacing in the last few days, when incidentally, the '04 deliveries had just began. Best of luck getting your keyless entry system working properly. Maybe the dealer should give you another "Perk" for the **inconvenience** of driving 100 miles just to get the new keys.

yeah, im thinking about getting the switch for the rear fog, and since they'd have to mess with the OBD to program keys, they should program the rear fog free of charge...

1500 miles in 7 days. No dome light, seems to be switch, maybe? Three hours to dealer so I think we will check it out first. I do know it is not a bulb. All else is GREAT! No problems at all.

It wasn't even an option in my mind not to accept the car. Everything worked fine except the key, which according to the dealer worked for him before service attempted to reprogram some options that I requested, I hadn't checked. I live a little over a hundred miles from the dealer, had my MINI and the keys weren't a problem , only an inconvenience. I can take the MINI back alone and not require another trip to the dealer with a second vehicle. Plus the dealer threw in some nice MINI gear for my problems.

I've also noticed that the rear fogs are not working. Again the MA says they were working when he checked and probably resulted from the reprogramming problems that they had.

The only issues I've had was the yo-yo, and it's not that bad. My keys worked, and I'm planning on having my prefs programed in the near future.
