Offline | Got my Cooper S on Saturday :) As many of you know I only passed my manual driving test in late July after 6 years driving auto and owning a Cooper Steptronic. Well on Saturday I picked up my DS/B Cooper S with Chili and CD + cuckoo clock + private plate.Well I have only done 140 miles but I think its fantastic probably the best car I have ever driven. I think it is very easy to drive despite only recently passing. Reverse is akward until you 'get the knack'. I think the handling is nigh on perfection having owned Cooper with SS and 15" and a Cooper with SS and 16" I think my Cooper S is by far the best slighlty bumpy but the handling is near perfect with ss+ and 17". I like the trip computer if only because it says I have averaged 37.1 mpg WOW! That's better than my Cooper auto! I like the auto locking and the xenon's are quite good. Is the grill on the rear shelf there purely to ventilate the battery? Also is the toolkit that is fasterned to the carpet on the left side of the boot new? I have never had one before. Stephen James were also very good. Throughly recommended ![]() James September 3 2004 HB/HB Cooper S, dark glass, Chili, chrome interior, Sony CDX F7500 anthracite headlining, |

| AWOL | Congrats !.... Apparantley the grill is to let more exhaust noise into the cabin, to add to the sportyness !!... the toolkit is the jack and wrench, they are there on the S because theres no space under the carpet... My OBC is more than a little optimistic, it says in the 6,500 miles i've done i've managed an average of 34 mpg ( i wish !! ), i believe mines about 10% over... The SS+ is a lot better with the damper change that was effective May 1st this year ... |

Offline | Very nice and have fun. FYI. I have one of the older S's and it doesn't have the vented parcel shelf. I definitely notice a difference if I take it out and drive. My toolkit was in the left compartment in the boot. There's a little ring for you to hook the toolkit strap through. Your's may be the same. |
