finally did it!

hi guys,

after one month reading up on mini literatures and reading various posts on this forum, i have ordered my mini cooper s today. it all went very well. i was very prepared and know what i want. the dealer was very helpful and friendly. this was what i ordered:

pepper white
black roof and mirror caps
black viper stripes
aerokit and roof spoiler
anthracite interior trim
xenon headlights
dynamic stability control

i will be part of the march production group and delivery will be at the end of march.

i wanted the tartan red interior but that is not available anymore.

i might have the JCW suspension kit, strut brace and the upcoming brake kit fitted before delivery. all of them do not affect the warranty.

will drive the car as standard for the first 5000 miles and then it's off to have a chat with the guys at amd or bbr.

the only downside was i had to fork out three grand for deposit. apparently, for the accessories that i was going for, they needed that much. but it's all good coz it'll come back to the same thing anyway.

the test drive really took me back. it was surprisingly awesome. the car feels solid and yet so smooth.

let's see how long will be two months drag by. roll on, end of march.

cheers.

p/s: sorry for blabbing so much but i'm just really excited now.

they initially told me a grand over the e-mail but changed their mind when i was there.
but the way i see it, it comes back to the same thing. i'll have to pay less when i take delivery.

also, i was told that i'll be getting the three spoke steering wheel as standard. good stuff. and the pedals and footrest come as standard too. more good stuff.

Your car sounds excellent, congrats.

a few comments from your information:

1) The red interior has never been available on the S.

2) A £3000 deposit is the most than I've ever heard of. I thought the standard was £500, that's what I paid anyway. You may have to pay less when you pick the car up but interest is better in your pocket than their's

3) If you decide to change your spec you will be able to do so up to a certain date so I suggest you ask your dealer to keep you up to speed with that.

4) I of course could be wrong but I thought the 3 spoke wheel was not standard on the S. It's either included in the CHILLI pack or a £55 extra.

5) Have you remembered to include the TLC package? Perhaps you should haggle to have it thrown in for free.

6) The viper stripes are fitted by the dealer so make sure they are doing those at a good price for you.

hi ken,

nothing much i can do about the deposit now. oh, well. it'll be worth it, wouldn't it?

asking for the red interior was just a long shot.

the 3 spoke wheel is standard on the s now. well, that's what my dealer said anyway.

i didnt go for the tlc pack coz i fugured it will be void if i modify it after 5000 miles (which i plan to). maybe, i should just ask for it as a freebie. hmmm, that's a thought.

the viper stripes will be 145 quid fully fitted and i'm gonna make sure it goes from lip to lip.
