United-Kingdom New mini-cooper S

I go to pick up my new mini cooper S in the morning at 12:00 mid-day, (exactly 15hrs10m away) and am worried that i will not be able to sleep for excitement. How ever will i cope. This is un liike the feeling i had when i bought my mini one but ten times greater.

I guess this is just the feeling that mini provokes in mankind.

Anyway mini2 members have been very helpful so as soon as i have had a drive about tomorrow i will write a summary of the car and my first impressions on what i think about it. I have owned the 'one' so will be able to make a good comparison. I myself have looked at threads of first impression but these seem to be from an older sort who have had a few expensive cars. I am only 19 and before my 'one' owned a peugeot (don't laugh') 106.

Hope this helps. My only trouble now is trying to get to sleep.

If all goes well soon to have a GTT 210bhp !!!!!

You are lucky man to be driving a MCS at 19...have a blast!!!

my only advice is in the thread I just started a few minutes ago regarding seeding tickets...

At 19 I was driving a 1967 Chevy Cutlass with a hole in the top of the gas tank that I paid $400 for. I thought it was cool cause it was made the year I was born...

Congratulations!!! I hope the wait wasn't too painful and that it was worth it. I've discovered something worse than waiting for a new Mini (idea for a new thread?!) - it's waiting to see if an offer on a house has been accepted....

United-States Thinking of buying a MCS

Hi-

I just joined the forum and would like to know how you like your newly arrived MCS. Also, I am thinking of buying one so I need to know what makes them so terrific.

Unlike you, I am 66 years old and have owqnede cars ranging from my first MGA to my 1998 Mitsubishi GSX Eclipse all wheel drive turbo.

Since you have owned two MINI's, my question is this. Why should I buy a MCS? I can buy a great Japenese car for $25,000 or less and the MINI seems great, but will it outperform a Honda 6cylinderr or a Honda S2000 (which is more expensive.

I drove a MCS and really liked it, but first it is very small and maybe that makes it dangerous. Second, it is really expensive pund for pound comapared with cars in its class. For example, a Honda Civic EX fully equiped is about $16,000 or $9,000 less than a smilarly equipped MINI S.

I think I still want a MCS. What do you and others think?

yes the mini is a very good car and better than s2000 etc but if the choice were between the mini and say a new audi A3 or bmw 33c1 i would take the latter. i have just run the car in and will write a thorough report and post it later this evening for mini2 to read.
thanks. check back this evening

330->MCS

I, for one, am going the other way. I'm currently driving a 330xi, but when my lease is up in July I'm "downsizing" to a MINI Cooper S JCW.

Whats so small about the MINI? Ya sure its short no trunk thats about it... I think its has PLENTY of interior room... the width of the car is EXACTLLY the same as a Civic. 55" i forget... its taller than the Civic...

Makes it dangerous? like what? in car crashes? I really have no proof to back this up but its just my opinion and from what i read what i seen and the Highway Institute of Safetys crash test... but I think the MINIs awefully safe... its built really well much better than the Civic. Have you felt the quality of the doors the feel of the car and the weight? Much sturdier than a Civic. and plus you can avoid an accident MUCH MUCH better in a MINI than in a civic.

Civic is similarly equipped at 16K vs a 25K MSC? No way... Dont know what a Civic has cuz i dont care for it at ALL but ok from the ones i've been in and driven; my friends; heres a list. does the civic have from the factory...

6 air bags?
Multi function steering wheel? (wiht radio controls, not just cruise)
the on board computer that tells you the temp, mpg, mph, range, etc...
climate control? (prob optionable considering its yr 2004 now)
DSC to get you out of trouble?
Parking distance control?
Xenon lights from factory (not the fake bright white aftermarket plug in bulbs)
Head Lamp Power Wash ( I know its a must for Xenons but does it have it?)
Flat Tire monitor? (I know its a must with run flats but does Civic have it?)
Auto Roll down windows w/key remote
Key roll up windows
Interior Motion Sensor Alarm
Dual Sun roof (ya not both of them can be opened)
Two Tone Seats (leather or cloth)
Award winning Harmon Kardon 8 speaker stereo
Sensing wipers and auto dim mirrors
Follow me Home Lights (lights your path and turns off automatically after 45sec to 2 mins)
16/17" wheels
163HP 155TQ
Road Side Assistance
36mo/36K mantanence Free

The Legend the awesomeness the history behind the MINI,
The Uniqueness of the MINI...

I dunno but theres no way a Civic can compare to the MINI. sorry.

Erica,

How the heck did you get soo many point thingies/karma or whatever they are....your not that popular! lol.

And yeah, the MINI is one of the smallest big cars out there. Definitely not a rival for any Civic, uncluding the Type R.

P.S Don't forget those pics from NY!!
