| MINI LOVER | As all of you certainly know the JCW mod has been out now for a while. But when I bought my MCS it was still a concept that mini2 was talking about. Recently I've seen lots of people say they have JCW MCS's. What I'd like to know is if they bought their MCS JCW from BMW dealer from Jcw? And also how many and who made the JCW mod after they bought the original MCS? Since I'd like to do the mod, do you guys think I should maybe give in my MCS and order the same car with JCW maybe with more accessories (my car is 1 year and a half)? Or just accept the HIGH price for the JCW kit. Cause I think it would cost less if i get a MCS with JCW instead of gettin' the mod done after you buy the car... ![]() |

| Gutter Princess | Hello... I got my JCW MCS straight from my dealer - I'd been thinking about selling my Cooper and getting an S but then decided on JCW S - so the 'Works' was fitted at my dealer 2 days after the car was delivered. I think what you do is up to you! Can you handle waiting for a new car - or is it easier just to upgrade your existing one..? Yours is a great colour - I've seen a Works in the Electirc blue with the Aero kit - it looked awesome! |

Offline | I was all set to order the MCS with Works pack from a BMW dealer until they told me they wanted over £3800 fitted. I can't recall the exact figures but it was around £300 more than John Cooper Garages. The dealer (Victoria - Milton Keynes) said they would get back to me later that day. Three days later with still no word I placed the order over the phone with JCG. Not only did I save money but I have a really authentic Works Cooper S. I'd agree with Interpidmini that how it's done (and even if you choose Works or another engine mod) is a very personal decision. Whatever you decide have fun! ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Sorry - JCG= John Cooper Garages. It was going to be over £23k - however when the car arrived it was missing the sunroof. That lowered the price by £500, and JCG offered a further £500 discount on the price as well as a free roof decal and fitting. All in all it was mid £22k. I have a feeling that if I had bought from my local BMW dealer and they found the car was not delivered to spec they would have had "a take it or leave it" attitude. To be fair to other BMW dealers the Milton Keynes one is especially bad (IMO). ![]() |

| Gutter Princess | Not that I've had ANY probs with the engine, but if I'd been sharper, I would have opted for John Cooper works/garage to fit the Works kit too... There's just a greater element of trust I think. You still get your certificate of authenticity if you don't have it fitted there... but the staff, attitude, professionalism at JCW (IMO) is of a higher quality than your average dealer, and they're so enthusiastic! let us know what you decide! ![]() |

Offline | Unless you get a serious price break on getting the JCW new I recommend breaking the car in without it, learning what the car drives like and then getting the upgrade to gain a true appreciation for the difference. (By chance that's what I did) Dave |

Offline | I attempted to get my JCW from the start but the Meister Mechanic was sick, so I had a weekend with the "S". A short 600 miles later I had the JCW installed. We take delivery of my wife's MCS in a few months so it will be interesting to compare the two. Now this is fun: |

Offline | Since the JCW kit is not installed at the factory, all MCS' are "converted" not born regardless of whether you got the car new with it at the dealer or was installed afterwards. '02 Cooper CVT PW/B '05 MCS CR/W |

| MINI LOVER | The post as intended that there are two different prices for the same installation: 1) is if you buy the car with JCW (from the dealer) 2) the other is if you get JCW mod installed as an "aftermarket part" The difference is over the 500$ (don't rember how much exactly... ) |

| seventh heaven? | Mine should have been delivered with the kit....unfortunately a backlog meant it was fitted a couple of weeks late. Still I got to know my car as a standard S for a while I agree with some of the other posters though. If I did it again I would get JCG to do the conversion themselves ![]() ![]() Black to the future.... |
