Offline | Ok, so am new at this kind of thing, so be gentle... Just ordered MCS in Red with WR and Chilli pack. Have heard that the 17" Alloys provide "interesting" handling charecteristics... any thoughts? Also, are there any must haves from the option list? |

Offline | Ummm, think I got the last one wrong. Hi Paul, thanks for the response. OK, gone away and seen what the Multi-function steering wheel can do. Is it really worth it? |

| Trained Monkey | Depends on how you drive, it includes cruise control, which is nice on motorways, and it's got the remote for the stereo, the Boost stereo has very fiddly little controls and I always find it a bit strange when I drive a MINI without it now. It's not something you'd miss if you've never had it, but something you wonder how you ever lived with once you have it! ![]() There aint no party like my nana's tea party |

Offline | ItHurts, The New Owners Thread in the General Discussions Forum here is an excellent starting point for you. It's for MINI owners to be, or for those who have just gotten their MINI. It's pretty much a support group thread for those counting down the months/days/hours/seconds before they get their MINI!!! I concur with Paul on the multi-function steering wheel. I have it in my MCS, and it's bloody brilliant. Keep in mind that you will be getting the new 3 spoke steering wheel, where the buttons will be on the front, very much like a Playstation game pad. Some people like it, some don't (I don't, as I have the older 2 spoke steering wheel). To find out more about the MFSW and also about the 17" wheels, make good use of the search engine here. There are TONS of threads about these topics, and many others. Spend a couple of hours searching and researching, then post some questions if you don't see the questions/answers you are looking for. Welcome to MINI2!!! ![]() |

| N.O.T. Member | Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!!! I love the MFSW. I find myself trying to adjust the volume in my other car with the SW to no avail ![]() I just wish the left middle button did something (or am I just missing something?) As far as the waiting, you will find that MINI2 will help a lot as there are tons of folks on here that are going/been through it all. Do you know your production month? There is always a Production Month thread where you can talk to others (and end up being MINI2 pals along the way). You can also join us over at the New Owners Thread and see what is going on. Have a fun wait, I did! (but the driving is better!!!!) ![]() |

Offline | welcome aboard the good ship "MINI2" toot toot. red and white. fave combo. how about some white bonnet stripes to finish her off? 17" wheels, some folks love em some folks hate em... they do tramline something terrible, but thats probably due to the hard compound of the run flat tires. i would suggest MFSW like paul said. its great for radio controlling and cruise control. |

Offline | Thanks guys - bit of a debate on the white stripes with Flag Officer Home (swmbo), I'm in favour... might risk it and just put them on the order and then feign suprise on arrival (risky strategy)... |

Offline | It Hurts - Welcome and congrats on your order! - I didnt bother with the MFSW, coz I only opted for Wave stereo with CD Changer & the Wave has a huge knob!!! - also 95% of my driving is arround country lanes so the cruise feature would be wasted! - I spent the dosh on the Panoramic SR and I find that supberb, not only looks great but also lightens up the interior! - You have ordered the Chili Pack - which includes a/c!! which is what most people look for when buying a used mcs. - Auto air is also a nice feature, although some ppl in here says that the blower can be noisy! - have a look at the vispack ppl also like that. One thing i wished i had added to my options list wash heated jets and mirrors! - its only £40 and with the traditional BMW bonnet insulation it takes an age for the washer jets to defrost on a cold frosty morning! - how longs your wait?? |

Offline | Bobnobski - thanks for the info. Gone for the MFSW as in addition to the posts on the forum someone pointed that it can be quite useful for holding on to your license! The SR is on the spec list already and I have already added the heated wash jets and stuff at the advice of the dealer. Really not fussed on Auto a/c, nice, but not sure if it's worth the extra dosh - same view on the visibility pack The wait... ah yes, the wait... Originally told that we'd be getting her 11/06/04 (British date format) that's already slipped a week (I was hoping to take it to the IoW festival) now looking like the 18th... |

Offline | ItHurts -- Yes, HEATED SEATS rock. And I say that, even though I live in Texas. Great for lower back pains, not to mention cold winter mornings (yes, it does get cold here sometimes, and we even had snow a few weeks ago!). I also LOVE my clear rear lights (just gorgeous), and my chrome side mirrors. I otherwise have pretty much every US option on my MCS except SatNav. Some have raved about that... I figure I can get a portable if I really want one. MFSW is great. I have the 2-spoke (3-spoke was not an option when I ordered, and I like the 2-spoke very well). Controls are nice for fiddling with the radio while you drive. CD changer is also nice; I flip around on my CDs quite often. Aftermarket stuff to look into -- cubby shelf for that "space" under the center console; great for stashing garage remotes, cell phones, etc. Got mine from MINIMania. I also got an armrest from there as well. Next stop -- chrome grill, possibly racing stripes (black on my PW MCS), and then some boosting to the HPs... ahhh, so many ways to make your MINI your very own! ![]() Look at that little S car go! Offline | Hmmm. ICE not really my thing, will settle for single CD as don't want to lose boot space - bizzarely enough am Hi-Fi/ Music anorak of 1st degree - never really floated my boat whilst driving, although I rather freakishly enjoy knocking up "driving compilation" CDs (Hi Fidelity by Nick Hornby made me feel very sheepish). Heated Seats - £185.00 here in the UK. Not sure about that... but will keep it in mind. Have been to Austin (long time ago) so know that it can get mighty cold! |

Offline | Just received command approval for white bonnet stripes from CINCNAVHOME (don't ask) -yay! ICE - now why did you have to go and mention that?! It's got me thinking...Planning a two week jaunt though France late summer / early Autumn - would be nice to have some "cruising" tunes to take in the countryside with... Have gone for the standard CD player as have read that the other (is that better?) CD heads offered do not work with the MFSW which is the main reason I'm going for it (MFSW that is). Ideally I'd like to get something that will play MP3s as have nearly put my entire, embarassingly large, collection of music on my PC and like the idea of taking a couple of hours worth of music out for a drive on a single disc. Anyone got any opinions / thoughts on the HK upgrade for the speaker system? Haven't yet seen any decent pictures of clear lights - anyone got any on their personal galleries (ideally on my spec car (CR/WR MCS))? |

Offline | We dont. We pine away, ****** and moan about the delay, fantasize about the driving, whine that it should be here by now, complain the wait is too long, spend countless hours running around the MINI2 boards, annoy the hell out of our dealers, annoy the hell out of our significant others, try entering our tracking numbers into the Wallenius Wilhelmsen site on an hourly basis, wonder if we made the right colour choice, worry that something could go wrong and god help we find out there are any delays! ![]() It is a troubled, turmoil filled time, littered with agony and anticipation. Many sleepless nights. Many phone calls. Loads of hours here. 2.5 months to go. I cant wait ![]() |
