| MINI2 Senior | 1-week MCS report I picked up my DS/B MCS (Chilli pack, CD Player, Anthracite trim) from Broad Oak BMW (Canterbury, Kent) on March 6th 2004 and so far I have covered 500 miles. Impressions so far compared to my previous car – MR2 Roadster: Good points: Great torque spread throughout the rev range even when staying below 4500rpm run-in limit Excellent overtaking ability Very tidy handling for a front wheel drive car Feels very solid Precise gearbox Build quality seems very good Dealer service so far has been excellent Bad points: Seat position feels very high compared to my previous car, even on low setting Back of car get very dirty, very quickly, a common complaint as I understand Trip computer range read out not very accurate at all (slight understatement) And that’s about it :-) Cannot wait until I have completed the run-in period ! |

Offline | Hi Rigsey, Welcome to S ownership. I don't think you will regret changing from the MR2. I bought a Roadster when they first came out and was so dissapointed in it especially as I had a MK1 MR2 way back. The roadster was noisy, ugly and very tinny in build. Wasn't a patch on the MK1. The only plus point was the handling. I would say there is no comparison with the S, I still love mine after 6 months of ownership. |

Offline | It took me six months to get comfortable in the S; I couldn't find a combination of seat rake and legroom that was comfortable. It feels so natural now, that I think my body had become semi-permanently contorted from three years behind the wheel of a Honda CRX. The kink is gone from my neck, and the S-curve from my spine, and now the S seems perfect. |
