Well...I'd thought I'd ordered my "S", but the dealer says (Towson MINI) that he was not allowed to modify the spec on the first five cars he was allocated. Now he's been allocated a gazillion more "S"s (actually about 20). Sooooo, he can't do a customer spec car until he gets his next allocation. In other words I won't be able to spec a car until it's set up for June production...late July/August delivery. Looks like I'll be taking a pre-spec EB that's close to the way I wanted my DS to be rather than wait. Jeeeeshhh, I thought being #1 actually meant I'd be driving an "S" before 20 other neighbors!

Your situation is really ironic because I just returned from my dealer (Crown MINI in Richmond) and discussed the very same situation. I wanted a gorgeous silver/black Cooper they had in stock but somebody else had "dibs" on it even though I am really the #1 deposit holder . But...the guy hasn't come to pick up (hasn't even driven the MINI) his car yet. If he doesn't, then I'm buying it.

The first Cooper S for sale will be available either this week or next! It's at the NJ port right now, EB/white with DSC, heated washer jets, sunroof, heated seats, foglights, Xenon lights, auto A/C, and OB computer. Then the next 2 available are EB/White also but with the Sport Package. Delivery in 4-5 weeks! Unfortunately, no DS Cooper S available anytime soon

So my choices are:

- Silver/Black Cooper if the other guy's deal falls through
- Indi Blue Cooper with some options, coming in 3 or 4 weeks
- EB Cooper S coming this week or next
- EB Cooper S coming in 4-6 weeks

Everything I'm reading here and at Roadfly leads me to believe that all 'S' builds through May are pre-spec'd and CANNOT be modified by dealers, and that the first customer spec'd cars will be built in June for late July or August delivery.

Seems like quite a few people are staking their claims on Dark Silver S's equipped with the Sport and Premium packages.

I just returned from my dealer here in Southern California. The dealer had originally indicated that those of us who were high on the list, (I've been on the list since last July), could spec. our S's for the June delivery. WRONG! Apparently, the word has come down from factory in Oxford that the production of May cars, (due in the States in mid June), will all be pre-spec.'d by the factory. I actually saw the inventory list of S's for the dealer's June delivery. (You wouldn't believe some of the options that the factory included or omitted ... like a whole bunch of cars -w- leatherette and no premium package ... and believe it or not .... quite a few without sport packages??) Anyhow, to make a long story short, my S will be Dark Silver -w- white roof and mirrors, lapis blue/black leather, and premium & sport packages (only one of a few cars to have both packages). Nonetheless, I am very happy to get what I got!

Actually, we will be a 2 Mini family. My wife's Liquid yellow Cooper CVT is due in mid April. I just hope that she lets me drive it!

Liquid Yellow Cooper CVT -w- white roof & mirrors, sport package and leatherette; and,
Dark Silver Cooper S -w- white roof & mirrors, premium & sport packages and lapis blue/leather.

My dealer told me that the factory would be producing pre spec cars for April and May. June will be the first month were dealers can spec the car. The reason was the factory wanted to try all difference builds specs to see if all was ok with the production line and supply lines.

My dealer told me they are trying to "match" people who have ordered cars, with the pre-speced cars that they are going to receive. So, I might get the chance to purchase a pre-speced car, or wait for the car that I ordered, to be delivered in August. Really, I would not be interested in a car that had any more equipment than I ordered, so will almost certainly be waiting. My dealership isn't going to open for another month, and I suspect that will do nothing to make orders and deliveries more timely.

I am going in next week to pick from the Pre-specced S's about 30 or so that will be arriving shortly. Right now, he had two DS with sport/blue leather/premium white. a PS with black and sport. and 2 Red/white with sport to offer. Not quite what I wanted.

DS/white roof/mirror/wheels sport/cold/auto air/MFSW
I wanted leatherette, but I really like the look of the Blue leather.

The story from Keeler MINI in Latham NY: All April and May builds (June delivery) are pre-spec. They are getting no less than 28 such pre-specs. June builds (end of July delivery) will be customer spec. I was offered a pre-spec S with no options whatsoever except 17" rims. Said no thanks, so I'm a June build. They appear to be trying to match waiting list people with the pre-specs they know they are getting, they seemed a bit cheesed off to be getting so many pre-specs when they could have told MINI 3 months ago exactly what their customers wanted, if only MINI had chosen to go all-custom-spec from the start...

Now, that's a bit more encouraging for me... I'm a June build already, so maybe I will get my first choice of black after all

The pre-specs in the UK are split between EB's and DS (and a pure silver!)
DS is split again with black and white roofs.
They are coming with various spec levels (1 - 4(or5)) mixed throughout the colour allocation.
Cheapest I saw was about £16.5K. I saw one priced at approx £18.5K! Some are coming with sat navs etc. hence the price hike. Sound like they are coming with leather and the Chilli 'S' pack fitted.

See your UK dealers the prices are in for the prespecs.!!

That's pretty much how Keeler's red S pre-specs are as well. Either no options at all, or 17" wheels and nothing else.

Apparently, the pre-specced cars going to the dealers are basically the same. MINI of Sterling is getting the same ones.

Depending on cost, I think I'll be getting the roof and mirrors painted. EVERYBODY is going to have Red/White.
