| MINI2 Master | Wheel Spin So will your standard Cooper S spin/smoke the tyres in 1st gear No abuse of the clutch just rolling along at 10mph and floor it, dry road straight line. What does your baby do? I'm a little confused as i would of thought 164bhp would of smoked the tyres to a crisp but NO. So shall we say if this is the norm i am well diasapointed. KEv... |

Offline | the MCS does not have alot of low end power. the power starts around 3500 RPMs. also the MCS come standard with traction control. this will not allow you to smoke the tires if it is on. you need to turn off the traction control. |

Offline | Well it was too easy to spin the wheels in the cooper, i remember when i first got it every junction was a learning experience...(looks up and reminisces (sp?)) Like Max, i can spin in 1st and 2nd (but not in 3rd ) if i chose to in the Works MCS. The novelty will soon wear off when you have to pay for your first set of run flats i can tell you. 'They aint cheap' . Any one can wheelspin its not a skill. |

Offline | Regarding torque and transmission ratio the MCS should have around 5000 N (or 1100 lb) of shearing force at 10 mph. Not neccessarily enough to exceed tire traction in a 1.215 ton car with a 62/38 weight distribution. 10 mph means only 1600 rpm, not really the optimum take off condition for supercharged engine. Popping the clutch at 4000 rpm should be more efficient for torturing the tires. ![]() To answer the question practically: No mine doesnīt either.
