JCW 200 BHP - Trading Stnds

Hi,

Loads of people have mentioned that you never really get 200 BHP.
However, JCW sell it as a 200 BHP modification.

Now, if you're only getting 185 or 190 at the wheels then surely they are selling something that does not do what it says on the tin !!

Could you not say that your JCW feels slow for 200 BHP and demand proof through a rolling road at no cost ?

Cheers,
EB.

I think you will find it's 200 at the flywheel ,also rolling roads are very variable with some reading low others giving totally unrealistic figures on the high side , and in fact std cars leaving the factory I am led to believe can have a 30 bhp difference in power , I have driven a few JCW Ss and I find the 'package' is excellent (if a little bit expensive ) and transforms the car .I have also had a go in some 'big power' cars and while they have serious 'kick' the overall 'experience' is not as good as the JCW .

My JCW definitely feels and goes faster than it did before the conversion. Also I've had my car at two different dynos, one said 188bhp the other 231bhp??? Both 'calculated' it at the fly so clearly there are errors somewhere. The last dyno was done with about 15 other MINIs and had an uncorrected 172hp at the wheels.

Also the JCW may have been properly checked by removal of the engine and checking on a proper fly wheel dyno, who are we to say it wasn't?? Besides couldn't you say the same about any car?
