Offline | Simple ... the MINI is more popular in other parts of the country than it is in New York 30 Apr 2001 - got on the wait list (probably the first) at NorCal dealer 29 Mar 2002 - turned down pre-spec Cooper S 26 Apr 2002 - received allocation in first batch of customer spec Cooper S models 02 Jul 2002 - took delivery |

| MINI2 Newbie | I live in SoCal. You can buy one off the lot here but the dealers around here charge $4500+ for a MCS and $3000+ for a MC. The wait for a spec'd one from these guys would be about 3 to 4 months with a lot of that being time on the boat to Port Hueneme. Going to a dealer on the east coast can cut down on the "extra" charge and the wait for the boat to come to California. I put my name on the list for a MCS with only dealer in the LA area that sells for MSRP, Long Beach Mini. (Just started a new job and thought it prudent to wait a bit before buying a new car.) They told me the wait would be 8 to 10 months. I put my name on the list in September of 2003 and it looks like I'll get my car some time in July 2004. It looks like they were just about right on how long I would have to wait. 10 to 11 months. But I've got a June production date and now I'm about 7 or 8 weeks away from happy motoring. (If I don't explode from anticipation first )2004 Mini Cooper S |

| MINI2 Newbie | Yes the wait is awful. I forgot to mention the other reason I was willing to wait which is that it takes about 3 years a manufacturer to sort out the bugs in a brand new model. I had a 1986 Saab 9000 which was it's first year of production. A great car but it had some nasty problems that were fixed in by the 89 model year. Judging from all the discussions here and else where about the dreaded Yo-yo and cracked windshields that waiting may have saved me a bunch of headaches. Well, at least that's one of the things have been repeating to myself over and over to make the last 9 months bearable. ![]() 2004 Mini Cooper S Last edited by tallweed : May 23rd, 2004 at 04:08 PM. |

Offline | Don't shoot me but..... 3 weeks! placed my order on 4/10/04, and had the incredible luck that my dealer found almost my exact spec sitting at port unsold (so I am told) . With my approval (and acceptance of the H/K upgrade) this MCS was diverted to Ohio, the JCW installed, and my MINI picked up on 5/3. | The S stands for speed! | I ordered my MCS on 05/18/04, told I have a possible June production and should see it in July/Aug. Ok, so I had to pay a bit over MSRP, the only dealer in the area that is selling them for actual MSRP is 10 to 12 months booked. I CAN NOT/WILL NOT wait that long. My truck would consume more than the mark up in gas over that period of time. DS/B MCS JCW:Prem Pack, Sport Pack, R-90's, HK, Aux Gauges and Driving Lamps. I am driving the wife crazy waiting and talking about this car, 4 days down, possibly upto 86 to go...gonna be a long summer. |

Offline | I was quoted July 10th for a Cooper, order was placed April. Apparently this was a cancellation. I subsequently swapped for a Cooper S and was told beginning of November. I managed to haggle the dealer down to a Sept 1st delivery for the new UK reg. Basically Dealers always have a reserve car or too and it just takes a little influencing to get hold of one. 54 Plate All Black Cooper S with Chilli, BoostCD, MFSW, Heated bits.http://www.evoposters.net/carsb/album43 |

Offline | What on earth!!!!!!!!!!!! Whats going on in the States???? Ordered mine mid January 2004. Told probably September 2004. Got a slot for mid-June 2004. I cancelled last week because I wanted a new spec & new Hyper Blue colour, told December 2004 if lucky. Got a cancellation for July/Aug 2004 Sounds like us Brits are being discrimated against! It's all the more frustrating because the Mini Plant & Cowley, Oxford is about 1/2 mile away from my house and I would be quite happy to help build it! ![]() |

Offline | Put in an order for MCS last Friday. Estimated delivery date:4 November 2004!!! Thats more than 20 weeks. Rough spec given to BMW garage purely to get in the queue. No doubt I will change the spec on a regular basis up to the final decision date of about a month before its built. Will see new colours in the flesh before deciding on colour. Red's too popular now- going for white or a blue colour at present. |

Offline | I ordered my MCS on 9/4/2002. I was first offered an August 03 built spot, but since it was so close to the new model year, I decided to wait another month. My car was built on 9/4/2003, and delivered on 10/2/2003. However by last December, the wait list at my dealership has basically disappeared. MINI allocated a lot more cars to my dealership, and they were able to reduce their almost year-long waitlist to nothing. I believe the wait now is minimal. |
