Offline | Best Ever Fuel Consumption....... As every MCS owner will know, fuel consumption, or excess of it.......is a thing close to everyone's hearts....... My previous best was 34.5mpg (UK) and my worst 15mpg. Having recently started a new job that requires a commute of 165 miles once or twice a week, my average has improved from 26-28mpg to consistantly being over 30mpg. Until last week.......did a single trip on Tuesday, filled up Thursday evening after a few miles pottering around.......BANG.......35.5mpg, and I wasn't drivning any differnetly to normal. My MCS is completely std and is driven in-line with expectations.....ie like I stole it......ha!.........so whats happened?????? Robert PS I did spec a ONE D up on mini.co.uk......but TBH I couldn't change even for 50mpg!!! |

Offline | which is approx how many total miles .tank Brimmed to Tank Brimmed. For me being on of the Milage master as it were. as in where ive done 526+ on a tank of gas in the MCS. this was in stock, 15% and 19% pulleyed. This is only when i make the long trip to The Dragon and back approx 526 miles one way and still have some left in the tank to toole around on. Normal driving around town, Doing Burnouts and racing the Honda's. I get around 270-352 miles to the tank brimmed. 02 MCS DS/W (Totaled November 02 on Fall Folage Run) 03 MCS DS/W (See my MINI Profie for extensive list of mods) |

Offline | Well......tank holds 50 litres........which is 11 gallons (UK)......so 35.5 x 11 = 390 miles +/- the tolerance on the volume of the tank...... 526 miles.......are you sure that's correct.......526/11 gallons = 47.8mpg..... ![]() |

Offline | For a start our gallons are 25% bigger than yours! I normally get 28-30mpg (calculated manually brim-to-brim). Never believe the fuel consumption figures from the OBC as I find them to be way out - normally about 10-20% optimistic. MCS JCW CR/CR ; MOD LY/B |

Offline | Yes EBM thats not bad for City driving.. The 526+ is only when i do all HWY driving where i use drafting and other technique to get the milage. My normal driving is country roads and hwy with a little true city driving thrown in. Which i get any where between 270-300 miles to the tank. I've done a straight City type driving once or twice where i got only 210 miles to the tank which avg about 16.1 miles to the US gallon. The Tank for me is about 13 US gallons. And yes im sure on the 526+ miles. its about a 7 hour trip with bathroom stops only speeds ranging from 65-90 miles an hour. 02 MCS DS/W (Totaled November 02 on Fall Folage Run) 03 MCS DS/W (See my MINI Profie for extensive list of mods) |

Offline | Oh i forgot to mention. Thats using the 93 oct fuel with Octane booster and a little Nitro Methane thrown into the mix. I have tried the same run with out the booster and Nitro and could only get 465 miles to the Tank. Also for me a tank is when the Red warning light is Flashing not just on and near empty. 02 MCS DS/W (Totaled November 02 on Fall Folage Run) 03 MCS DS/W (See my MINI Profie for extensive list of mods) |

Offline | I also use 93 octane gas (from Sams Club!) all the time and that is what was in the tank during my high mileage trips. It seems like the Cooper S really can get good mileage when not pushed and just doing freeway driving. When you throw in some city or heavy right foot, then you will pay the price...literally. |

| Mini 2 Slap Head | Hi Robert The best consumption i have seen out of my standard S was 41mpg (indicated on the OBC). This was on a 3 hour trip with motorways all the way, 70mph on cruise control, short shifting etc. It was a personal challenge to be honest with you (you know what i do for a living ). However, i will give the OBC 5% tollerance so lets say 39mpg roughly (and i didnt cheat by putting the tyre pressures up!!) Weather: 28degC and mid humidity. |
