Weekend trip to Normandy

Just got back from a weekend trip to Normandy (from Manchester), had great fun with some of the twisty roads and the BRG S performed brilliantly. I noticed quite a number of French MINIs (did not flash as some French see this as a warning not as a signal) but did not get any waves when attempting to make friends.

What was really unexpected was the fuel consumption! I set the cruise to 140km/h on the motorways (ours and theirs) and got 35.7 average over the trip. I'm dumbfounded. I don't get this much normally parked on the drive with the engine off! Might have been the 98 rated petrol that seemed to be everywhere, I not sure. Also the cheaper petrol was quite nice

DVD SatNav worked a treat, only a few new roundabouts near the WWII sites that have obviously been built for the June celebrations.

This is my third year of MINI motoring, and have not taken the car abroad as I thought it would be a big disappointment after the 528, but I was wrong. Yeah, I'll admit that I will not drive to Rome like I used to but otherwise it worked just as well.

Just have to clean all the splattered bugs off the front now

Glad you have had a great time

Have you considered coming to Lommel, Belgium in June next year for International New MINI Meet?

More details can be found in the European Events/Socials forum

Hope you can make it
