Offline | Post if you cutomer spec a USA "S" Please post if and when your dealer gives you a production# for a USA customer-spec Cooper "S". That will let the rest of us know when Oxford is accepting orders from the internet. The present rumor seems to be that tomorrow, April 26th, is the day. Those of us on the list will be anxious to hear that the first cars have actually been ordered. At that point we can start to bother the "H" out of our dealers ![]() Thanks, Tom |

| Bad Dog, Moderator | Just got my production# It shows my "unknown Cooper S" as "on order" but has no further details. I'll be tracking it closely and report back when anything shows up. | Bad Dog, Moderator | Re: How on earth were you allowed to order I was told, about a month ago, April 26 was the day my dealer would get "their next allocation". These apparently are prespecced but can be changed by request. I gave my dealer my requirements and got a production number in my email at about 10:45 this morning. It seems too good to be true but my salesperson (who seems quite competent) says it's a go. I'll post when I get a build date offically, car is now listed as ordered in miniusa.com owner's lounge but gives no specified build date. I was told prior to the order that the car would be built in June for late July/early August delivery. ![]() Chili Red / Black Roof Cooper "S", delivered Aug 5, 2002. | Bad Dog, Moderator | UPDATE!!! Did a check in Owner's Lounge this morning and found my car has gone from "unknown" to "Chili Red". They have apparently done the input on my data, however, no production date has been scheduled. One step closer... Chili Red / Black Roof Cooper "S", delivered Aug 5, 2002. Offline | Just got back from the owner's lounge at miniusa.com...nice place. I had heard a lot about it. Very comfortable, plush seating and the staff was wonderful. They made me feel quite at ease being my first time there. The coffee was excellent and I can't wait to return for happy hour. It was good to see my fellow "customer-spec" friends there also. I look forward to seeing more of you there. ![]() |

| Kaptain Krutaroo | Finally got to drive the Cooper S yesterday - loved it! My friend who also drove the Cooper and the Cooper S decided that I could not have the only Cooper S in the neighborhood ("it will get lonely!" he said). He did not have a number and basically walked up to this dealer and said.. "I want to order a Mini for the earliest delivery possible." He ended up putting a deposit on one of the first 10 slots they had available for the first customer spec'd cars - the dealer was predicting late June early July delivery. He's getting a Chii Red Cooper S, w/ white and the Sport Package - I'll keep the list posted on the progress of his order. Kaptain Krutaroo - Kurt Collins - Washington, DC #8 2009 MINI JCW CR/B |

Offline | Sorry, but I find it hard to believe that any dealer has an 'S' waiting list so short, that someone could walk in off the street and get one of the first 10 customer spec build allocations. Since these are June builds, the "late June early July delivery" makes it sound like your friend is getting a pre-spec May build. ![]() |

Offline | Got a call from Alex at Don Rosen Mini (Philadelphia) on Saturday afternoon, explaining that the Indi Blue Cooper S that I had already provided him with specs for was not going to be available until October or so. BUT ... if I wanted to spec an S in the 4 basic colors, I could do so now. After re-examining the EB and DS, I went with DS/white roof. June build/July delivery. It wasn't that I couldn't wait, my A4 is still a pleasure to drive. Rather, it was the prospect of being able to enjoy the summer in the Cooper. |

Offline | I can't believe it. I received my production number today for my DS "S" with premium, sport , and leather (Lapis blue). Estimated production is "6/2002", with no exact date as of writing. Any predictions as when this will go to production status? |

Offline | I am still trying as hard as I can to get a production # from my dealer. Hopefully soon...... Thanks to everyone who posted, we now know that it is possible to "customer spec" an "S". I am hoping for a June build. Tom |
