Offline | really depends on what you define 'fast' is. For instance, a BMW 530i could be considered fast, but an M5 is a fast car too (understatement! )If you look at straight acceleration figures, you won't necessarily classify the Cooper S as a fast car although it does outperform many cars in its class (same goes for the Cooper). The one area where the Cooper S/Cooper can be considered superior to most other cars is it's road handling capability. Given the road is all twists and turns (i.e. mountain road, racetrack, etc.), the Cooper S/Cooper may turn out to be the faster type of cars to get you through it. Like others have mentioned before, the Cooper S/Cooper could use a few extra HP to make it a better all round performer especially in the acceleration department if that's what you are looking for. my 2 cents. Offline | reading the subject header clearly now and reading what you've posted, what's the difference between the 'copper s' and the cooper S? I thought he meant the cooper S all along. |

| Kaptain Krutaroo | Useable Speed? YES! Depends how you drive too.. if you drive like a bat out of hell all the time then you'll think a laggy, turbo Subaru WRX will fit the bill (which is my daily driver). However, for USEABLE speed, the Mini Cooper wins the stop light wars from the start as the torque is available lower down in the rev range. Offline | Cooper S fast? You bet it is! But, it is all relative. The "feel" is fast when you are driving it. The power builds, 'n builds, 'n builds as it pushes you firmly back into the seat. You are close to the ground, in a tight package, the illusion of speed is strong with this one. But, is it fast? It does 0 - 60 mph in 6.9 sec for $19,850. An Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T manual does it in 7.9 sec for $29,000. An SVT Mustang Cobra does it in 4.9 sec for only $34,000. A Kawasaki ZX-9R does it in 2.9 sec. for $9,499. It all depends what you want. The cheapest performance is still on two wheels. I still would rather have the MINI Cooper S!!!!! ![]() Motor on, Dudes and Dudettes!!! Offline | Fastest enough for me - I have only ever driven Peugeot Diesels on a regular basis. Fastest thing I driven was Henri Toivanens 1981 RAC Rally winning Talbot Sunbeam Lotus - now that were fast ! EB (White Roof, Alloys and Wing Mirrors) Chilli Pack, 1/2 Leather (Lapis Blue), Trip Computer, Boost Radio (CD), CD Changer, MFSW, Climate Control, DSC & TLC. |
