Offline | I remember being on Mini2 reading and posting quite often after I ordered by Cooper S and waiting for it. Well, I got my Mini for about 2 weeks during which I did not come by Mini 2 at all. I was busy with my new mini I guess. I got about 770 miles on it now and it started with 10mi. two weeks ago. What is my though on this Black Cooper S, first it looks absolutely awesome!!!! I first I was worry that the black might not look that good because of the black trim around the tire well. I was wrong it looks so goooood but Did I say that already? The over all quality of the car is good all the mechanical stuff is very tight. It does have some rattlings, which doesn't sit too well with me (being that I just bought a new car and it rattles.) The problems areas are: 1. the buzzing like a loose wire in the A-pillar interior fitting 2. rear quarter interior fitting on the passenger side(flexing sound and plastic rubbing sound when going over bump and any rough patch on the road.) 3. speaker grills on the rear pair and once in a while from the front mid-ranges. |

I notice a small scratches (looks like a screw driver mark maybe it is from when they putting the car together) on dash panel around the Speedo. The are some loose lamination or coating around these scratches but they are very small. After 2 weeks my ears are so so turned to listening to these faults on my mini that I have to intentionally avoid bad road so I don't have to hear these rattling. But wait, I forget to tell you that I LOVE THIS CAR when it is on a smooth road and even more when it is on a smooth high going 80-90 mph!! (Still in the break in period.) With all consider I am still just a tad bit off from being totally satisfy with my Mini. I am planing to go to the dealer tomorrow to have them make my car RIGHT by fixing all the rattles. I am still worry that the dealer will be able to only do so much and I will still have all these rattle to annoy me afterward. I will have to wait and see. Dose anyone out there have these annoying rattles in their cars and did the dealer fix them right? Is there anything that I need to make sure to tell the dealer that might help get this job done right? Anything about the car I should be checking out before bringing it in?....... If anyone has any experience with these rattles and the dealer please let me know how your went. I am just a concern owner of a New Mini. driving the car still give me a grin. |

Offline | If you have... ...a decent dealer in your city they can do alot about the rattles in your car. They will have it down by now what to do and where to do it because this is such a pervasive issue... so many Minis have these "built in" rattles... By the way... rattles are free of charge on the spec list... they are standard equipment ! I have the same color car as yours and I love it. Very elegant. Enjoy !!! ![]() It is not how fast you go, but how you go. |

| World Wide Flying Ace | Congratulations on your new S. Get the rattles sorted by the dealer and enjoy the car without these little niggles distracting you. Mine has a few rattles, 7mnths old now. Nothing too bad, but I plan to mention them when the first service is due. You're absolutely right though, doesn't stop you loving the mini. ![]() 'Just a funny looking dog, with a big black nose' |

Offline | Got back from the Dealer I took my Black MCS in to BMW dealer for the rattles. They got done with it in about 4 hours. The next morning the rattle from the A pillar came back and it has actually gotten worst. Now the rattle comes on with every I step on the gas peddle or lifting my leg off of it. The noise from the rear interior panel also returns. I have another appointment with the same dealer again this Saturday. I hope to get these annoyances taken care of soon because I am getting close to the 1250 mi break-in mark and it will be harder to have it parked in the garage or getting service at the dealer. Today mileage 1025 mi. I got the picture of my coopers to show too. see attached. Mr. Cooper in Black and White. |

Offline | Congrats We just took delivery of our 2005 MCS last Thursday. Like yours, jet black, but ours has a white top (so it looks like a Guinness!). I'm sure you're enjoying yours every bit as much as we are. We haven't run into any rattles yet, but now I'm going to be listening for them. |
