Offline | Is 05 spec much better the 04? Hi In my quest to get my first cooper S, I was wondering if the £1k extra (second hand ) between a 05 and 04 spec cooper s was worth it. Anybody got any thoughts? |

Offline | After reading a lot of articles between the two years and from owners on both sides, it appears that some people with '02-04s are going to move up while others are going to keep an eye out for an '05 tranny, and possibily one with the LSD! I like the '05s, I feel that it is quicker than the '04 I test drove! |

Offline | No sir... ...because I have an '04 and cannot yet afford and '05 !!! When I am able to afford an '05 with the LSD the '05 will, of course, be better. It is not how fast you go, but how you go. |

| Now With More Cowbell | Having owned both an '03 MCS and now an '05 MCS, I can say that it's a worthwhile improvement in so many ways..... The extra power and shorter gearing is lovely. The car feels a little more solid, slightly quieter and somehow more frisky. The steering wheel is vastly improved over the old 2-spoke style. The car feels much more revvable. Before, there was a gelatinous feel to the engine that didn't encourage exploring the upper rev range. In the newest iteration, the whole assembly feels much more willing to spin. Clutch feel is lighter and less tiring. All in all a much nicer package. Global Moderator |

Offline | Oh, man, everytime I read posts like this I get closer to buying an 05! Like I've said before, I love my 04 MCS MC40 (people do comment on how it's different from the other MINIs they've seen), but with LSD, the new gear ratios, and what sounds like some real build quality improvements...STOP TWISTING MY ARM! Whew. |

Offline | I've got an 02 MCS and the other day I drove an 05 Mini One! I totally want an 05 MCS now! The 05's are so different!! Quieter... much better handling, the engine is so much stronger, the new gearbox is a great step forward! Well I can go one for hours! But I totally wont one!!!!!! Anyone wanna buy a really expensive 02 MCS? |
