Offline | Tracking After a bit of help guys, I fear my tracking may be slighty out cos it pulls to the left a bit and the steering wheel seems more biased to the left has anyone got their MCS tracking done at the normal ATS / Kwik-fit et al or gone to the dealer for the full laser alignment jobbie? cheers ![]() |

Offline | If your car is pulling left, this has nothing at all to do with the tracking, ditto if one tyre is wearing out on (say) the inner edge. Straight ahead is always going to be the 'equal toe in (or out) on both front wheels'.eg. If the tracking is set straight ahead and you wind (say)the left hand track rod end in a ridiculous amount ,then straight ahead will still give equal amount of toe out on each wheel. Also both tyres will scrub out the inner edges in equal amounts. The only thing wrong with adjusting one side is the radial orientation of the wheels relative to the steering wheel will be wrong. It is quite possible to have spot on tracking, yet at straight ahead the steering wheel is at one o'clock position. This is annoying ,and affects the' turn indicator cancel function' too ,but handling wise is fine. I expect billions of pounds have been made by tyre shops suggesting they set the tracking (toe in/out) when the customer says ONE tyre is scrubing out or pulling ONE way. Best Regards Roland Gt Tuning. |

Offline | Interesting one that Mugami,If both rear wheels are say pointing left by the same amount relative to the c/l of the car then in a straight line the car will crab and both front wheels will point left relative to the c/line of the car to maintain straight ahead. If only one rear is out(say left toeing in) then it still crabs (,to a lesser extent )but would wear that rear left out on the outer edge. The front tyres are still running 'equal equal' toe though unless the rear was so bad as to cause a one sided 'drag' that needed correction on front. Now that could cause pull to one side IMHO you cant beat 30ft long strings for setting tracking,I would never trust any garage to do my tracking on my car. What am I saying I am a garage! Offline | Thats right tyres tell a story. Another useful aid is one of those laser thermometers ,point the red dot at the tread and compare temps across the tread width. Regards Roland Gt Tuning |
