is there a way to find out what software version is installed in my 2002 MCS.. just got it updated recently... i dont want to go back to the dealer

Unfortunately, no. The only way to tell is to be hooked-up to MINI/BMW's GT1/MoDIC computer system. Sorry.

even then, the dealer often won't or can't tell you what version is on.
here's a quote from an earlier post of mine.

"I have a 2/28/03 build MC and have been wondering the same. When I got upgraded
to V37, I asked them to write down the old and new versions. The new version was
#7539191 E, which they said was V37, but the old version was #7539660, and the

Those 7 digit ID numbers (refered to as "ZB" numbers, I believe) correlate to information contained in MINI technical service bulletins. It is within those TSBs that the "english" translation is given in the format that we know, i.e.; version xx.y. Thus, there is not a "keyed" link between the ZB number and the common version number.

That being said, one may be able to extract the ZB number using the GT1/MoDIC system and cross-reference (by hand) all the TSBs related to ECU changes in an effort to discern the version number. Unfortunately, Seimens may have used a range of ZB numbers for the same ECU software version to accomodate slight variations that may be needed in a "world" market.

Nothing is simple...except my own mind.
