Offline | My day at Snetterton - LSD What a great day out at Snetterton! I've never had so much fun in my Mini.I had never done a track day before but within no time at all I was sliding around corners at 85mph! I didn't know the Mini could do that. The best part of the day was during my last few laps when I caught up with a Seat Leon Cupra and a Pegeot 205 gti (1.6). While they were wobbling on the limit through the corners the Mini was completely composed and I passed them both on the long straight reaching 111mph. Even when I pushed the mini and slid wide of the apex, getting the back end out, the car was easy to get back under control. It really surprised me. It made me feel like a pro! (I only passed my test 19 months ago). What a car, what a day! The only thing I did notice was the amount of wheelspin I had coming out of a corner in 2nd gear. I now understand what a difference LSD would make. I wonder if the quiafe 90% LSD would invalidate my TLC. I guess it would, but i don't suppose it would be detectable. I'm also wondering if 90% is too much. I bet it would torque steer, not that I know exactly what that is. |

Offline | Sounds like you had a blast! Yep, I'm always amazed at the go-fast ability of the MCS--there's a lot of potential there that you never see on the road...well, hardly ever. Driving on the track is a whole new experience. I'm still trying to figure how anything could make my MCS handle better, but by all accounts the LSD makes a huge difference in exiting curves. I'm tempted to trade up on my 2004 MCS to get a factory install. |
