Offline | Scratched speedo Hi!! I don't know if this is the right place, or if it's better posting in "interior and ICE" or "faults and fixes"... Anyway My speedo is badly scratched, could I replace just the glass or it is impossible? I've tried to polish it, but things are getting worse.... Please, help me if you can! Thanks in advance EB/W Cooper S |

| Damned | Hi, I posed a similar question a while ago See >> http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=83712 Apparantly if you try & polish it out, it removes a coating from the top of the lens in that area, so you have to polish the whole thing so it doesn`t look so bad. The lens coudnt be sourced on its own but had to get new instrument & then swop it over. ![]() In da Wud |

Offline | The Speedo cover is plastic. I recommended Novus when someone else posted that they scratched their Speedo cover and it successfully removed the scratch. Novus is an excellent product. Novus #1 is for cleaning clear plastic, and Novus #2 removes scratches. Here is their website: http://www.novuspolish.com/ Good luck! |

Offline | Thanks for your replies! Are you sure it isn't possible to get only the replacement for the lens? I'll try polishing it, but I'm very skeptical. I'll ask to my dealer as soon as I can. But if you find a way to replace just the lens, please let me know! ![]() EB/W Cooper S |

Offline | I've asked my dealer, and you were right: it isn't possilble to replace the speedo lens. He suggested to polish it. Could you please tell how to remove the antracite ring (or the silver one) from the speedo? I hope I have not to remove the whole speedo from dash. I'll try polishing it, or may be to replace with a new custom made plexiglass lens. What do you think? EB/W Cooper S |

Offline | I'm not sure why you even have to remove the speedo ring to polish the cover. As I posted, Novus #2 is a great product for removing scratches from Plexiglass. You may have to apply it more than once and use a little pressure, but it works great. Someone else may know of another good product, but I've only had experience with Novus. |

Offline | I'll try Novus (the 2oz. trial order is enough to polish the speedo lens, or not?), but I just like to remove the speedo ring not to scratch it. Anyone knows how to remove the speedo ring? Thanks again EB/W Cooper S |

Offline | I would imagine that 2 oz. would be enough for the speedo lens. It may take more than one try, though, but remember to apply a little pressure as you apply the polish. As far as removing the speedo ring, I'm afraid I can't help you with that. Hopefully, someone else will respond who can. |
