Thumbs up Greetings!

Hi all!

First post so go easy on me!

Thrilled to say I'll be ordering my Mini Cooper S this week (excited already and I won't even get it til end of July! )

Anyways, here's the spec I'm going for:

Hyper blue/white roof (seems very popular on here)
Chili pack (looks like very good value for the money)
17" S spokes (until I can afford the 18" JCW items )
Black/blue half leather
Radio Boost
6CD changer
Anthracite Headlining
White Indicator Lenses

Just a few questions:
1) I can't decide whether to go for white bonnet stripes or not. It'll complement the white roof and mirrors nicely, but is it a bit OTT? I know it's a matter of taste, but would anyone advise against going for them?
2) Is the harmon kardon upgrade worth the extra wedge? I like my tunes admittedly, but is it worth it on top of radio boost?
3) Any thoughts on my spec? Anything I've missed out?
4) Why do you have to add a limited slip diff with the Chili pack? I'm not too fussed at Ģ100, but why the need? Also, isn't Ģ100 a bit cheap (dare I say it) for LSD?
5) Do dealers give any discount on new mini's? (Wishful thinking!)
6) What revisions have BMW made to turn the 163bhp MCS into the 170bhp MCS? Did I read somewhere that they've changed the design of the pulley in the supercharger?

That's about all for now, no doubt I'll think of more things to ask in time!

Cheers all,

James.

Congrats on the order and welcome to MINI2
Believe it or not, the time will fly by and it will be the end of July........well, just keep telling yourself that and you'll be fine

Your questions
1...Stripes are personal, some like then some don't. If you want to stand out a bit you could get a graphics company to do something individual for you
2...Personally I'd say get the bog standard wave and then upgrade to an aftermarket system, but there's plenty of people here that like the HK system. Ask at your dealer if they have a demo car with it in
3...Visibility pack, great in winter. Multi-function steering wheel (MFSW)
4...LSD......FUN FUN FUN No it's not too cheap shhhhh or they'll put the price up
5...Not in the dealers vocabulary
6...The exhaust was changed too, somewhere on here the changes are listed

Welcom Uncle Albert

Congrats on you decision, you wonīt regret it. Try not to count the days till delivery, it will drive you crazy (as it did me)!

Answers to your questions:
1. īBeauty is in the eye of the Beholderī, so if you like it, do it. Personally, I considered it but decided against the stripes. The MCS is a beauty as is.
2. Canīt say as I donīt have the HK. Mostly I turn the radio off and listen to my car
3. LSD, LSD, LSD
4. See answer 3. I canīt have it retrofitted (at a reasonable price) but I could sure use it. Even without tuning you have a lot of power and getting that power on the road is sometimes difficult. My DSC cuts in to quick and to deep, LSD is really the way to go.
5. Donīt know, shop around.
6. Iīm not that technical, use the search or read the FAQ.

Hope this helps,

Motor On,

Cpl Hicks

Hi James and welcome to MINI2

Nice sounding spec. I would only add the chromeline interior (or is this standard on the S?). Personally I like stripes and have them on my car. But you can always add them later , much later .... close to delivery or even afterwards

And you can't expect any dealer discount

Cool

Hi all, me again!

Went down to my dealer today, had the salesman take me out in their MCS Works demo (I'm only 19 ) and put the deposit down as soon as we got back!

Basically gone for the spec I posted before, minus the bonnet stripes and plus the tinted windows. May add the HK system at a later date, although the stock sound system seemed quite good.

Salesman couldn't stress enough how much he preferred the standard S over the wheels, particularly slating the 18" wheels. He also said you don't really notice the extra power til 90+, which I don't know how much truth there is in this, but meh.

Anyways, roll on September 1st!

I'd lose the 6 CD changer. You can get 10 albums of MP3's on one disc.

Hi James and welcome

I’m new on here too but had been having a nose about before our car arrived.
We have a MCS in electric blue we had a 6 month wait, at fist thought it seemed such a long time but it soon passed. It arrived on 10th March so only had it just over a month.
One thing you might think about is chrome exterior and interior package, we have it and it does look good.
We opted for the new wheels 17" 5 star bullets which im glad we did now (included in chilli pack now).
Check out the head lights
When we pick it up they had it in the show room it looked that good that they got a sale out of it, we did ask if we got the commission too but they just laughed. Have attached pic below.

Greetings :-)

Be careful this place is addictive!!

Just a few answers:
1) IMO no they are not for me and should be left for chilli red coopers
2) The stock stereo with boost is fantastic IMO...
3) MFSW
4) Cus it’s the nuts and well worth the extra Ģ100 that’s added to the chilli pack, Ģ100 is well cheap for LSD
5) No chance, try and walk away and they will let you
6) ermm dunno.....

Cheers for all the advice chaps!

Won't be bothering with the chrome as it's not really my thing.

I don't think I'm too bothered about MFSW, although the cruise control would be nice.

Decided not to bother with the stripes.

Think I'll just opt for radio boost rather than the HK system, and save the extra pennies towards insurance!
