Talking Got it on tuesday Chili Red Spec

After much waiting and wanting I picked up my chili red s from Lauderdale Mini on Tuesday. Overall Impression of the buying experience, First Class all the way.

Now for the car. Yes all the reviews are correct the car is a blast to drive. It is completely flickable, parking lots are even fun, just turn the wheel and there you are. Run the speed up a little on the on-ramps and it will give you a wiggle to let you know its having as much fun as you.

Burn outs: remember to turn off the traction control. It will still do a nice little chirp with it on, but it looks like you wimped out. Of course I was only doing this to get the tires warm.....

Seats, keep you planted even when chasing an M3.

Ride: tight but not harsh. Much better than my mustang cobra. It will bounce on bumps at speed, but its more fun than jarring.

Acceleration: It is really, really hard not to exceed the the 4500 rpm limit during break in

Throttle by wire: I can not wait until I can change the software setting for this, it feels like the car has an overweight flywheel. My only complaint with the vehicle.

Funny that, EVO made the same remark in their testreport:

"Blip the throttle, though, and the revs rise and fall very slowly, like the engine is full of treacle. Most odd."

and

"There is also a twin-mass flywheel, which partly explains its apparantly slow-revving nature if you blip the throttle at rest"

You say you think it's possible to adjust the setting by changing the software. Is this easy to do? Please keep me informed as I am highly interested.

Any other testdrivers who noticed the same?

The only option on the car is the 17inch silver s-lite rims, with the run flat tires. The side walls are STIFF. I figure they will be good for about 8000 miles. 180 tread wear rating and I love to slide, so I am already looking for replacements. No run flats for the replacedment though, need a little sidewall give to get better handling; at least that's what my M3 buddy says.

The red color is perfect, I was leary of the red intially but it is really close to the Ducati Red (they share the garage), so it has a very nice tone to it.

I have the "pleather" interior. It is not as nice as leather, but black leather in south florida is unpleasent at best. I do not mind the pleather because I will be getting custom leather installed, or I will be replacing the seats with some recaros and then I will figure it out from there.

As for the software and the throttle by wire, I figure the chip tuners will get this figured out and it will come with the performance chips.

It keeps raining here, so I will takes some stills when the sun shows up.

Oh yeah, the radio is pretty kicking (yup that volume dial is way small) and the cup holders "have character" you can fit the Taco Bell large cup in them, and the top of the cup fits neatly into indentation on the shift knob. Remember I own a Ducati, so certain "personality" traits like this make the vehicle more interesting. A honda it ain't, and that's why I like it

I agree with you on that "drive by wire" throttle, it's just a little weird if you ask me. I am pretty much accustomed to it now (800mi) but it took some getting used to. It will be interesting to see if changes can be made.

Also, my guess is the runflats wear out quickly too. I will be replacing them with "normal" tires in the future. As forum members find better options keep us posted!

What color is your roof man? I got Chilli Red and black roof/mirrors. This is my first red car, and I actually wanted yellow or blue, but I must say that I fell in love with this car the first time I laid eyes on it. Should have pics to post this afternoon if the quaility is worth a crap.
