I have a dilema - I cant decide whether to get the Union Jack flag on the roof of my Mini. I am a Brit living in the US and thought it would be cool to make the car look unique.

Your opinions will help me.........

If I had the choice, I would rather have the sunroof than a flag on my roof. Don't think it will be that unique either, I reckon many people, if they get a flag, will choose the Union Jack anyway because of the British origin of the MINI. At least I think people in Holland would, although I must admit that a Dutch flag on the MINI would really look sh#t

I'm in the same dilema.

In the town I live we have a lot of sunny days, all year round so a sunroof will get a lot of use (not like the Netherlands where apparantly there are only 2 sunny days a year LOL QQQ).

However, I am a Brit living in Switzerland, so a Union Jack would be a great idea for me.

You can get an aftermarket transfer set that will cover the sunroof (but still let light through - it is perforated over the sunroof). So you can have BOTH!

However, when the roof is open it will look Naff.

Finally, I think I've settled on EB/W. There are not many colour options in Switzerland. For example, we cannot get Chilli Red, but we can get BRG. But we still only have the black/black, black/blue interior options.

I think that the UJ may not look so good on an EB car. What colour are you planning on? (anyone got a photo - genuine or photoshopped?)

I think that on balance, the sunroof would get my vote, but once I get the car I may get the after market kit and see how it looks... get to have my cake and eat it then!

I thought the either flag would be kind of cool, however the American flag thing is really been over done here of late. Also, I would have been inclined to go with a Union Jack, but I also believe there will be plenty of those. It seems to be somewhat faddish. I opted out. I was also concerned about how well it would hold up.

I think it depends on what colour car you've got.
IMO it looks a bit duff on some colours, but great on others.
I personnally don't like it on chilli red but love it on an indi blue.

I still can't make up my mind and the car is here. Probably will wait until I get it and live with just bonnet stripes for a while.

Depending on your car colour (Red/Blue/white) go for it.....
you can always take it off at a latter date.

In US they are charging around $700for the flag

Saw three at my dealer today. American Flag, Union Jack and Checker Board. The price was $499 installed.

I've got a pic of an blue with checker roof - just not sure how to post - if anyone wants to see it I can mail it too them - roof visable just - kind of get the effect. It's in BMW UK head office Bracknell. Could always try to go back and get higher to take another!! (Best not take a ladder though they might get worried!)
