United-States Maintainence and repair costs

Hi,
I am considering buying a 2005 Cooper S and am concerned about it being very expensive to maintain and repair. Can anyone let me know about these costs? Also, how does the "S" handle in snow and ice?

Thanks,
Maryann

The Mini is pretty middle of the road for repair costs and servicing costs unless you have
TLC in the states in which case servicing is cheap. However the biggest cost of running
a vehicle is depreciation and the Mini is very good at keeping it's value. So overall costs
will be low compared to other cars. The Mini is like any FWD car in the snow, if you spin
the wheels due to too much throttle it won't do much harm. Like many modern cars it
has traction control, so you probably won't spin the wheels, and optional DSC (dynamic
stability control) which is well worth the cost if you worry about such things. The only
problem I can see for it in the snow is it does have a fairly low ground clearance which
may be a problem in deep soft snow.

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs

In the states full maintenance is standard and it covers all maintenance for 3 years /36,000 miles. I live in Colorado and so far the snow hasn't been a problem. The car is low so if you run into deep snow it could cause a problem, but many cars would have a problem with deep snow and not be as much fun to drive .

Sometimes I think driving my MCS in the snow is even MORE fun than on dry pavement!

Just keep passing those SUVs!

I, too, wonder about the long-term maintainance costs once I cross the 36,000 mile freebie barrier--I'm actually thinking about trading this one in at 35,000 for a new one! Then again, I have not heard any horror stories from the higher mileage 2002/2003 crowd.
