Offline | JCW on 04 vs waiting for next generation etc I have been following the threads on the factory fit JCW, next generation Mini etc. Some thoughts/questions: 1. With the current generation Mini nearing the end of its life cycle towards early 2007, it makes sense that BMW will introduce the factory fit JCW option later this year to capatilise as much as possible on the kit. It would be interesting to know what commercial agreements are in place between BMW and JC Garages because this will obviously decrease the number of kits sold/fitted through them. Would anyone know if the kit price will come down towards the end of this generation MCS's in order to sell of the last stock?? 2. Does anyone know if there are further developments planned for the JCW kit or is the current 210hp version the final version? 3. I am planning to get the JCW fitted to my 04 MCS which is just over a year old. I will loose to much be selling it, getting an 05 or 06 MCS and then have it fitted. Even with the taller gearing on the 04 compared with the 05 it should still be worth it. Before Max chirps in about the cost of the JCW kit, keep in mind that we do not have access to the tuning products as sold in the UK here in South Africa. The only question remaining question is whether to leave the conversion and wait for the next generation (which will be turbocharged, I love the supercharger) as most of the conversion capital spent will not be recoverable later. Any opinions, especially from pre-05 owners that has the 210 JCW? A lot of us MCS owners are tempted/suckered into spending ever more money on our beloved cars, excellent marketing strategies from BMW, but then again, what can really be compared to the MCS? |

Offline | 2. doubtful. All their engineering efforts should be going into a JCW "kit" for the turbo engine. Why was time and effort on a dead end project? 4. DO it. I have and worth it. Also, I would never buy the 2007 model. The first year of every model is always full of problems. This is why JD Powers says 2002/3 Minis are SO POOR in quality. Wait until 2008/2009. |

Offline | Interesting Rakey, sounds like a good deal with the brakes included as well. Unfortunately a little late for my situation. I am just about ready to take the plunge and get my 04 modified. |
