Offline | doubts about getting MCS i've been reading comparisons between the cooper and cooper s which have caused me to rethink my choice. is ride comfortability a major difference between the two? i've only test driven the MCS...is the enginge/power/torque similar to the cooper? does the engine sound the same when accelerating? what are the advantages of the S over the standard cooper (apart from looks)? |

Offline | wise choice with the S, stick with it having owned a ONE, a COOPER and now an S, i'd doubt i'd ever buy another cooper.... the difference between a cooper and an S is amazing... you really get more for your money, it feels totally different, not only looks, handling & power, the whole package just seems better all round ![]() if you're worried about ride, put non-runflats on the S.... if you're still worried test drive the cooper i doubt you'd worry much more ![]() |

Offline | hi, I just got my MCSC 10 days ago and sure the ride is firm but I wouldn't call it uncomfortable... I found a baseline to this car : Don't wake up the sleeping tiger... (sound better in french) You can drive a great car everyday and have a sports car the week end... The différence? Your mood... Enjoy an S... Sebastien |

| Just enjoy it! | The cooper and the s do not compare in terms of performance, and as such they do not bare comparison. I think your choice is probably more likely to be between an S and something elsde liek a Golf Gti or a scooby which can be got for similar money by the time you've specced up your s. As for the ride, you get used to it. stick non run flats on it that helps. If you want a cruiser buy a 3 series. |

Offline | yeh...looks like i'm going for the S...thanks for your advice guys! 1 Question...is there anyway to dampen the sound of the exhaust onto the rear seats as when you accelerate, the sound of the exhaust causes the rear passengers to feel like they are in an aeroplane (ears feel blocked). front sound is fine. |

Offline | Good choice on the S! Rear seat exhaust thing sounds a bit odd... doesn't sound any different in the back or the front in mine. Standard S's exhaust isn't really that loud I don't reacon. Its loud enough for me, but wouldn't want it any louder, put it that way. |

Offline | That depends. I have driven my MINI on stock 16" X-lites with runflats and with R90 replicas running conventional tyres. The ride is noticeably better on the 17s. They look better too, and the R90 replicas/regular tyres weigh less than the OEM 16" wheel/run flat tyre combo too before the next person pipes up with the usual critical comment in the 16" v 17" discussion.![]() Cheers Liam |

| World Wide Flying Ace | Oddly, I've just had JCW 18's fitted and imo they ride better than the S spokes. I've driven the Cooper and the one on 15 and 16" wheels and don't find the S that harsh in comparison. A little firmer over the bumps but worth it for the handling. ![]() 'Just a funny looking dog, with a big black nose' |

Offline | im currently driving a cooper loan car with jcw 18"s on....its a totally difference sensation from my 17" r90s on my S...still getting used to it. I dont know if shes got SS or SS+ though. I'd say wheel & tyre choice could make as much difference as between SS & SS+ |
