Just got back from the MINI Center in San Antonio, where I ordered my brand new 2006 Space Blue MCS! Due to take delivery of it in late November...don't even have my production number yet, and I don't know how I'm going to survive the 2 month wait!

The test drive was a really gorgeous run through a nice neighborhood/park in San Antonio, fell in love with the car on the drive. The test drive came to an abrupt and sad end, however, when I was sitting stopped at a red light and an older gent in a Jaguar slammed into the back of us! Very surprised at how well the S stood up against a bigger vehicle---sort of an unintended testament to the car.

Looking forward to joining the other Texas MINI drivers on the road this winter!!!

That'll be a story for the salesman to tell, "had a nasty accident on the test drive, but I still got the order!". Mind you, I admire your restraint, refering to him as an "older gent"; that's not what I imagine I would have called him

Anyway, do try and find a way to while away the next two months until it arrives. You've definately made the right decision and I'm sure you'll love it when it arrives.

By the way, what car are you replacing with the MINI? What made up your mind to try one in the first place? Just curious.

Well, there was no point in losing my temper with the guy other than catharsis, though I had some choice words in reserve that I didn't use on him I just wanted to get back to the dealership to talk about ordering.

I'm replacing a 2002 V6 Ford Mustang. The MINI S appeared to be the perfect balance of performance and style, and the price is unbeatable compared to some other vehicles I was looking at. The test drive sealed the deal.

The final spec (after much wavering and deciding) was:

Cooper S w/ Sport Package
Space Blue / Silver Roof, bonnet stripes, etc.
6-speed Getrag Manual

For comfort's sake, I also got the center arm rest and the 8-Spkr. Harman Kardon sound system.
