Offline | Man, do you drive on a race track or something? I try pretty hard to rev my Cooper to the redline every chance I get, without speeding excessively, and I still somehow manage 40mpg (imperial) while driving 100% in the city. You must have some horrible stop and go traffic over there, or maybe you just accelerate through every small gap you see and then brake pretty hard ![]() |

Offline | Interesting... I've been loosely tracking my consumption since I got my '06 (just over 2000 kms ago now) and I haven't seen the increase in mileage yet. I'm getting shy of 30 mpg... typically between 27 and 29 mpg measured by hand - except for the 2nd tank, where I drove harder and all on sd mode and got about 20 mpg... ![]() What was the rough range where mileage began improving as the engine stretched out properly? I think I've got to be coming on to it soon, as I'd really like to be about 30 (and would *love* to have anywhere close to 40 mpg!) N... |

Offline | Best I got out of my MCS was a indicated 44.8 in reality about 40-42 as the computer is always about 5% out. But that was driving really carefully, did you know you have to concetrate more to drive super economic. If I really cane it I still get around 30-35. |

Offline | That's awesome. I drive with a feather on my foot, only occasionally going above 2500 rpm, and rarely above 3000. My wife and I are planning a highway drive to Toronto, so four hours of cruising at 115 km/hr will probably lead to better mileage. |

Offline | Well I just put my first tank of gas in the our new Cooper. Strictly highway driving, and I had 700K on the Odometer and the low fuel light had just came on, so that should mean I had about 9 litres of gas left. The Edmonton Mini dealer said they always use regular gas which surprised me, but I put in 91 grade fuel with this fill-up to see if there's any difference. Of course, the Cooper is still being broken in. I was expecting 45-48 MPG and it seems about right so far ![]() The Transport Canada rating shows 48mpg so I really wonder why some people are only getting 27-35 mpg. -27C here on the Farm this morning so ShadowFax is staying home till it warms up a tad ![]() |

| "I'm kind of a big deal" | I drive a 52 plate Mini One with a K&N induction kit and an AMD remap and i get 35mpg if I drive in a way to deliberately conserve juice and 30mpg just driving normally. Most of my journey is at motorway speeds doing 25 miles at a time. |

Offline | MPG with Optimax Hi, My Cooper regularly returns around 38 mpg on motorway driving, 36 on mixed driving, and the best recorded is 40.5 on motorway driving at 50-60 mph - all based on the trip computer figures (i haven't manually checked to see if these are accurate. The car if fitted with standard 16" wheels, and being in the UK these are imperial gallons. The car is always run on Shell Optimax or if unavilable, the (IMHO) inferior and generally more expensive BP Ultimate. In summary, the MINI is not a particularly economical car. I compare this with my previous car, VW Golf GTi Mk IV, with the 1.8T engine, that could regularly return 40-42MPG. But, the MINI is infinately more entertaining to drive, so there is some consolation! Regards skyhigh_71 |

![]() MINI2 Master | I've had between 8 and 50 MPG in my Cooper (I'm excluding the 99.9 down-hill and out-of-gear)! It's all about stop-start traffic and short trips, rather than driving style. My normal average per tank is approx 26 MPG, but that's due to my four minute drive to work. |

Offline | well, I'm taking the car in on Friday to get winters put on - I'll mention that I drive meekly but am averaging 25mpg - my last tank was 23.5 (the average is actually dropping). I've heard that resetting the ecu / updating the software are two options.... |

Offline | If you're driving only short distances, this is the time of year when your mileage will suffer as the car spends a larger portion of your drive "warming up". Until everything gets to the right temperature, the car burns a good bit more gas, and I would imagine Ontario is pretty chilly about now... -Eric |

Offline | You're right that's its getting chillier as each week gets on here! We had a dip down to -20C with the windchill a few days ago.. yikes! My driving distances are actually fairly long - about 25 kms each way, and that's on the days I don't need to drive as much, so it should definately be enough. |

Offline | Here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada its been even colder than that (-20C without windchill) and my last tank was 29.8mpg (US gallons). This has been the worst mileage ever for my Mini, mostly becaus I was stuck in traffic for atleast 15-20 everyday for the whole tank. I'm not a really slow driver either, my front tires were already 30% worn at 5000kms (and I keep the tires inflated to correct pressure every week!) |
