United-Kingdom Exhasut help please!

Hi everyone.
I'm thinking about fitting my Cooper with a different exhaust to the standard one. The two I have been looking at are the MINIplay exhaust and the John Cooper Works Sound Kit. I was quoted around £200 for fitting of a MINIplay exhaust and have heard one before and liked the sound and look of the exhasut. Does anyone have any opinions on this system? Is the extra price for the Works exhasut kit worth it? I have never heard one of these before, except on the soundclip on their website. Is the noise worth the £700 price??
Thanks

Imo no, although the good thing about the bmw exhaust is you get to keep your warranty thats for definate.
Some dealers although will turn a blind eye to an aftermarket part or two.
I personally dont think the extra 500GbP that you pay is worth the difference, they both sound great giving a more raspy sound to the car.
Id go with the playmini, well i already have but then again i dont need warranty anymore as mine has run out!

Thanks for the post - i was struggling with the idea of paying that much for an exhaust! I had heard the playmini one before and loved the higher end noise it makes. Would it be worth talking to my local dealer to see if they'd turn a blind eye? Does fitting an aftermarket exhaust invalidate the whole warranty or just items to do with the exhaust? Thanks

My cars been back to the dealer (Sytners) many a time since I've fitted my exhaust, once when the gearbox broke. So far the only time they mentioned it they just said "Sounds nice doesn't it!"

Cheers for that - Sytners in Nottm is my dealer too so praps I wont bother mentioning to them. Unless they can give me a good deal on the Works exhaust - although they arent moveable on the car price so seems unlikely!

Just dont mention it to the dealer, the whole warranty is a bit weird, technically it shud only invalidate parts that are involved with your exhaust, but it varies dealer to dealer.
Also check out the milltek exhaust too, they are nice.

I was also either going to go for the Miltek exhaust or the Playmini one - in the end I opted for the Miltek one due to the group buy and its really good. I am sure the Playmini one will sound great too...not sure which one is better in terms of performance tho.

I am going to probably either stick with the Miltek for the manifold, or get a Playmini or Janspeed one it all depends on which one is cheaper as I am pretty sure they are similar in terms of performance.

Playmini did my strut braces and Pipercross induction kit (i went to them to get it fitted) and they're a decent bunch of ppl

OllyH;

I've had my Playmini exhaust for just under a year now and cant get enough of the gorgeous sound it makes.

I have also listened to a Cooper with the John Cooper Works Sound kit at my local dealer (sewell), and must admit I was impressed with the sound it made but really only came alive when the car was revved to 4500-5000 rpm.

Would I pay £700 for the JCW sound kit? Probably not, and thats not just me being biased, I just couldn't warrent spending £700 on a filter and exhaust thats all.
But if you want to play it safe and go with the JCW so your warranty wont be effected, cough up £700.

How unsurprised was I when BMW / MINI announced this was OK to fit and wouldn't affect the warranty They just love to keep it as expensive as possible don't they, effectively the setup I have now is much the same as the JCW but just a different manufacturer, but they get so tetchy about it.
