Thinking New Cooper......

Well recently been thinking about changing my car, and after test drives at the weekend (not MINI's).......Which was awful may I add!!.....

Ive now thought about getting rid of mine and getting a brand new Cooper, worked this all out a high specc'd one is gunna cost me roughly £40 a month more than my car now.....Worth it right?? Am I missin something!!??

The Cooper would have....(Not fully decided yet)........Recaro's, HK Sound, Air Con,
17''Bullets, Chilli, Tints......Mmmm what to do next........ Looking to spend £16,000

As it's been 3yrs since I specc'd up my last car, any ideas what are 'must haves' and what not to bother with??

Ive also gone past the phase of adding mods all the time, so whatever it comes like im not changing it (except the Bluefin ive already got)

Xenon is a must i think. automatic air con and 3-spoke leather steeringwheel too

I kind of love mini's!

Don't do Xenons, far too expensive to replace. £100 each light I heard... Just get some bright bulbs for halogens, look good!

Must haves - Aero Kit and JCW Sound Kit... oh, and JCW Seats!

You don't have to get the Royal Grey.

Astro black, Pure Silver, British Racing Green and Black-Eye Purple (not sure if that colour is an option anymore) is also avaliable

I kind of love mini's!

The biggest must have is the Chili Pack. Even if you get nothing else, you'll have a decent Cooper. Something else that's a must have is air con. Get yourself manual and save some money over the auto. Many people say it's not necessary to have auto in such a small car.

What else is nice to have? Harman Kardon, 17" bullets, and heated mirrors and washers.

And then those things that are real 'extras'. SS+ (if you like a firm ride), xenons, anthracite roof lining, chrome interior, alarm, sat nav, electric folding mirrors, MFSW, JCW Sound Kit, and the list could probably go on.

Worryingly, I have everything listed (except for the MFSW) on my '06 Cooper.

This was my thinking too. It's at the end of its life and it's better than ever. Who knows how the new model will be in comparison. My plan is to get the facelift model of the next generation MINI when that's available after about 3 years or so.

I paid £715.50 fitted from JCW themselves for the Sound Kit (my first and probably last visit ) but someone said they had it fitted for £499 by a dealer. Prices seem to range between these two figures. The Sound Kit is really great, and makes the Cooper than bit more exciting.

Thanks for the prices! Yeah I saw the sound kit on a couple of cars at Himley, I must admit I really liked the sound! Quite pricy no doubt.....but worth it in a way when you think Warranty etc remains all intact!!

Well ive got a budget of £16,000 on a Cooper so should be alright maybe squeezing the sound kit in somewhere

£17,700!!! Blimey, good luck with that monthly payment

I really don't wanna be upping my outgoings too much per month so im keeping to the £16k budget (I hope!!)

Saw you had the sat nav though which must of bumped the price up

I agree with a lot of Sebby's comments.

CHILI pack & air con is a must. Also I would get MFSW as a must as well, but thats just becuase the cruise control and stereo controls are so useful.

Also now I have had a car with Xenons I wouldn't want one without, in the rain on the motorway they are so much better than any halogen lights, brighter bulbs or not

Everything is else is really personal preference, I would love Recaros though

You'll never stick to a budget, its not possible when speccin' a MINI
