Engine Judder

Hi all!

Had a bit of a problem with my 52 plate MC for a while now but have kind of ignored it! I have found that if i set off reversing quite quickly then and the revs are between 1500 and 2000rpm I get a very hard judder. It feels like it is coming from the engine bay but all the car judders. If i give it more revs however, the problem seems to go. It may be a coincidence but if i turn of the asc+t it doesnt seem to do it!

I also ge tthis when setting off, if i set off fast with the revs in the same range as above it will sometimes do the same engine judder. It does it more when the engine is cold, when i keep the revs a little lower if possible. However, it doesnt ALWAYS religiously do this. Just sometimes. It may be just me but it does also seem to help this judder in 1st gear if i turn off the asc+t. But doesnt completely stop it.

Any ideas? Its doing my head in

Thanks in advance MINIers

Dealer time me thinks. Check all your connections with the ignition off though might just be a bad connection.

Iv never took my car to the dealers as i bought it second hand and its out of warranty with no TLC (cant extend as the mileage is over 50k). Am i likely to be charged a lot just to have a look at it?

just been reading this thread http://www.mini2.com/forum/faults-fi...=engine+judder

unsure what to make of it. Makes me feel like i need a new clutch

Bit confused on whats best to do now!

I would guess a dealer will charge you an hours labour minimum to have a look

Your best bet might be an independant garage.
Where abouts are you someone near may know of someone to have a look

I live in royston vasey haha. The village is actually called Hadfield (in Derbyshire) but it is where they film the league of gentlemen! I dont think it is a big problem but like you all say it would probably be best to get it checked out? Money is my biggest problem Tax is due this month and i also need 2 new front tyres. And now this!!

I have the same problem as you, and you may find its the clutch.

Mine's only done 32k miles. It's normally cause the clutch has been allowed to get too hot. This is the case with mine as it spent all of it's first 29k miles generally stuck in traffic around birmingham.

Short of replacing the clutch, you may wish to live with it. But yeah, by all means get it checked cause yours may not be the same as mine.
