| MINI2 Regular | Mpg i have a 51 plate mini cooper on sat i filled up (was on 1/4) with 97 octane bp fuel and come to £34.50 - ive done approx 200 miles and its on 1/4 tank again on the parkers site (which i know aint allways correct) it says the cooper does 42mpg n my old astra did, 32mpg, so i though that the mini would be better, but my astra seems better past few days of driving aint been a normal week as i aint been in work and plus ive been having a little play just wondering what sorta miles you all get from a full tank ? Offline | mmmmm well my '55 plate park lane average's 30mpg according to the OBC. If i fill the tank with 98 octaine i get around 300miles on that...... normal driving. If playing i can get it down to 200 on a tank, or when i went away on holliday i got 500 on a tank (but that was sitting at a constant 70mph on cruise control lol wasnt much fun!) The coopers are not that great on fuel ecomonmy for a small car. but they are dam good fun! |

| Ashes and dust Maximus! | Well I've got an o6 Cooper R53 and my OBC reckons I'm getting 36.2mpg. I don't know if anything but standard fuel makes any sort of difference in a Cooper; it's supposed to in an S, but that's much more performance orientated. It's just painful to watch my fuel gauge when I'm driving in a 'spirited' manner...I can see the gauge physically move! James |

| Ashes and dust Maximus! | Hi jdmini, I remembered this subject has come up quite a bit, so here is the big mini cooper mpg poll, so you can see what other people are getting. And remember that if you're still running your car in (i.e. you haven't yet done 1250miles) then your mpg might not have reached its best yet. | MINI2 Master | You should buy yourself some new footwear Jon those lead boots are costing you dearly My current 06 Cooper with Sounkit gets exactly the same. My previous Cooper with soundkit got 35.5mpg. And before anyone asks I use all the rev range all of the time. Am hoping my new one will get better once properly loosened up. ![]() |

Offline | I find that my OBC seems to stick at 33.6 MPG!! It works fine for a while but as soon as it hits 33.6 it never moves from it until I reset it. I know its bust as I did my runs to work and it sat on 33.6 (which would be nearly correct) but then at the weekend I drove Newcastle to Carlisle and there are only 2 points in 55 miles that I have to slow down, the rest I drove at 57ish. I kept checking the 'current MPG' and the whole way it was up round 40 but the 'total MPG' was still at 33.6!!! |

| Ashes and dust Maximus! | A One doing 23mpg?? I though remaps improved fuel efficiency!Actually, now you mention it, mine hasn't moved from 36.2 in 5 months! How do you reset it? With that sort of driving you should be getting pretty reasonable mileage out of your tank, say 330miles at the least, I would expect. Paying for your own petrol's REALLY pants isn't it?? It destroys any money that comes anywhere near me, esp as 5000revs is my friend ![]() |

Offline | Do you have a Cooper or a Cooper S? I have had both and my 03 plated Cooper did about 300-400 miles on a tank, usually averaging about 28-35mpg most of the time. Usually it fell nearer the 28-30 mark than the 35 mark but I have a heavy right foot and never gave much thought to fuel use. The S does 28mpg if I am lucky. Its usually more like low 20s around 240 miles to a tank. The facory stated milage figures are rubbish on the MINI, if anyone ever gets close to factory fuel use in an S or Cooper regularly then I'd be worried that they are not smiling enough and having the fun in the MINI that they should. PS...The new Astra is far beeter on fuel than the MINI, My other half has had several newer Vauxhalls and all have out done my MINI in petrol and deisel versions...but all are far slower and handle aweful even in SRi version. |

Offline | You shouldn't trust the onboard computer anyway - you can't beat measuring pump to pump. I have a Cooper, probably average around the low thirties, the best I have had is 50mpg (UK mpg) over 260 miles with the OBC reading either 52.3 or 53.3 although I can't remember which now. And yes I have a Cooper, not a One diesel. It's very very difficult to achieve this though, and by contrast where I'm currently living I average about 4mph and 20mpg. ![]() |
