I've got a Cooper on a 55 plate and its just started to have a few problems. A few months ago a knockin noise started when the car was in neutral or when the clutch was in. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the gearbox. Same thing has just happened again this week, not good. Also, the engine has started to whine, most noticable when goin about 40 in 5th gear with a small amount of revs.
Finally, the boot wont always open! Very annoying, especially as it tend to only open when you turn the engine off and take the key out.
Anyone had the same problems, any information greatly appreciated.

When you drive the car it should automatically lock all the doors including the boot, If your at a stand still and want to open the boot, (incase you already dont know this) there is a lock/unlock switch along the row where the electric window switch is, if the engin is on flick it up and all the doors and boot should open.

As for the gear box i cant help you there, the only problem i had when collecting my 05 plate mini was the crunching noise when placing it in reverse, but i was told it was normal for mini Ones and Coopers to do this?

No I dont mean it unlocks when I take the key out, it opens. In at the dealers now, should find out whats wrong some time this week.
