Question 4 yr brake fluid change

Hi all,

Just a quick servicing related question. I own an 03 Cooper which I bought a year ago. Although its Inspection 1 isn't quite due yet (in 4000 miles or so) because its very low mielage the 2nd brake fluid change is now overdue. Is this something i need to get BMW to do, as to not loose the TLC intitlement or would peope advise an independant dealer. My local BMW quoted me 100 pound.

Any advice would be appreciated

p.s. Am loving the site since I discovered it

Well, here in the USA the Brake Fluid is supposed to be changed every 2 years. This is also the case for the Coolant. I own a 2003 MC. Bought it new. Only has 19,185 original miles. I just had both the Coolant & Brake Fluid Systems Flushed for the 2nd Time. I had it done at an Idependent Garage that only Services BMW,S & MINI,S. Total Cost USD $ 245.00. This included Tire Rotation.

I no longer take the Mini to the Dealer for Service.Reasons: 1. 100 mile round trip. 2. Price & 3. Warranty is just about up. The people i now take it to have been Serviceing BMW,s only since 1988. They added the BMW Mini,s in 2005.. They are the ones who stated the Coolant needs Flushing every 2 years. I tend to believe them. Oh, my Round Trip for service is 42 Miles.
