Offline | Help - Is the default on a new cooper SS or SS+ After several test drives with both suspension set ups we have decided on SS. We have a new salesperson at our dealer who seems rather confused every time we check and doesn't sound very confident about what has been ordered. Can someone clarify this for me. Do you have to 'specify' SS or SS+ on the order. |

Offline | RYN, this is incorrect. This has been discussed before at length.. try a search, or read the new brochures that have been out for around 4 months. SS is now standard on Coopers, inc. the Chili pack cooper. and has been since JAn 2002. SS+ can be added as a no cost option, however YOU must specify it at order time to your dealer and it will appear on your vehicle order sheet. The ride of a Cooper S on SS+ is vastly different than the Cooper on SS+ - maybe to do with the different weight? so don't base your ordering of SS+ on a cooper on a Cooper S test drive. i know of at least one person with a Cooper with SS+ who is ordering SS on their replacement Cooper 'coz they found SS+ too hard. Offline | I can confirm what Moonshine has said SS is the default and in order to get SS+ you HAVE to specify it. When I ordered my car the dealer and myself were unaware of this change therfore at the time I was expecting SS+ and assumed the demo I had driven had got SS+ I later found this wasn't the case on both accounts, at the time I was p***ed off but my dealer offered me a back to back test which I accepted, luckily enough I prefered the SS over the SS+ which I found to be that bit too hard for everyday use. Offline | i've just ordered my Mini, (again) cause i've killed my first one, which i'd had since last september. ooooooh, i'm so mad, anyway, if you order the chilli pack on the Cooper you have to specify if you want SS+ and also the brilliant silver interior trim, otherwise you just get SS and the dark antracite trim. These are the only two options you have to specify. when i specced my first one, back in july 01, these came as standard, but now it's changed. I think the change was because people didnt like the hard ride, but i loved it, till i hit the world biggest pothole ever and hit a tree. hope that clears it up 4 ya! ![]() |

Offline | Interesting this. I ordered my Cooper back in July ( I think! So long ago I can't remember! LOL ) I asked this very question to my dealer. He said that SS+ was included but could be removed as a NCO. He said the same about brilliant silver. Be interesting to see what I end up with! Thing is there's no easy way to tell if you have SS+ or not! It's not like there's a badge or anything! Dom - confused and slightly worried! ![]() |

Offline | Re: bounce WHatever..... my dealer is my brother in law tho' and i had this fight with him for not telling me that SS+ was not standard any more and he forgot to tell me that my car wouldn't have it. The technical note is buried in page 4 of a e-mail to dealers dated sometime in February.. Gerry MINI Cooper, Chili Pack, Xenons, heated washers, MFSW, ASC+T, |

Offline | I would of thought ( although this really is guess work ) that it's really down to the dealer. Either the dealer can spec the chili pack with everything by default or they can spec everything minus certain options by default, I guess you just have to check. The other thing which is worth pointing out is that in the MINI options list it lists the options in the chili pack, then at the bottom of the page it says this: "Sports Suspension PLUS may be replaced with MINI cooper sports suspension, if requested" So maybe it was a **** up with your specific dealer...I dunno... |

Offline | Re: Re: bounce I should really clarify that my dealer was actually more than accommodating when the problem was noticed.... we arranged a back to back test drive and the problem was resolved really amicably.... It had been a genuine misunderstanding and had i wanted the differ ent setup after the problem was discovered, he would have endeavoured to change it for me. When i said "fight", i didn't really mean that...i more kind of meant "BAnter....wind-up etc". the dealer was really good and had made an unintentional error - everyone can Sorry for the misunderstanding that my last post caused. I think th safest bet if you ar e wanting either SS pr SS+ is to specify it to your dealer in writing, and get the confirmation in writing from him/her. point out that there is real confusion over this matter and to clarify it with the factory before the options are closed. All the best and OOOPS! GErry MINI Cooper, Chili Pack, Xenons, heated washers, MFSW, ASC+T, |

Offline | If you do specify Sports Suspension Plus it will appear on your invoice as a no cost option. If it is not on the spec sheet / invoice, then the builders wont see it as that's the info they get too. check your spec sheets, it should be listed with £0.00 next to it. Same for Brilliant Silver Interior Trim. ![]() |

Offline | invoice I've looked at my invoice and it states SS+ but @ zero cost but not so the Silver interior, However I think this is covered by the Cloth/Leather Kaleido option @ zero cost also part of the Chilli package. |

Offline | I ordered my Cooper with Chilli pack back in June and I specified that I did NOT want SS+. Apparently some cars were delivered with SS when the owners and the dealers thought they were getting SS+ because MINI changed the default around the end of 2001. Regarding the choice of trim, I was originally told I could opt out of the Brilliant Silver Trim and get my preferred Anthracite, but later found out this was not possible with the Half leather Kaleido seats and had to settle for the Silver trim after all. |

Offline | There seems to be major confusion at the end of the day between us all. I ordered my car in April 2002 and specified chili pack. I understood that this would come with SS+ and the order did not list it. Aftr driving a Cooper S I decided I did not want SS+ (mainly due to the wife). I contacted my dealer to get it changed and now my revised order shows option 228, SS+ as £0. (did not show on first order) So i'm lost. How can we tell what the car has got without driving it? |

Offline | option M.2 From the sound of it your dealer has added the SS+ to your order when originally it was not on ?? They have to specify the interior with the chilli pack @ £ 0.00 so logic tells me that SS+ on the order means the car will have it. Does anybody know the difference in the Anti roll bar diameter as this would be easiest way of identifying. M.2 let us know what you get Cheers |
