If you do a search on here there is loads of info on this topic, I recently bought a tool off ebay to reset my light, ok since and cheaper than a BMW dealer reset.

My light came on a few months ago, when i took it to BMW which cost £40 they said they could not reset and the car needed a new airbag loom which would cost around £400, but when i got back into the car the light had gone off and has not come back on.

I had the same issue in January. I had the passenger side wiring loom replaced. Cost me £195 out of warranty.

The B200 tool listed above tells you what the fault is and resets it if it is no longer a problem. It is often caused by a bad connection under the seat. If still under warranty BMW often replace the seat loom. If outside warranty you may prefer to buy the reset tool and clean or solder the connectors yourself rather than pay a garage to do it.

If anyone needs an airbag tool. I have one for sale. Worked a treat on my 02 cooper reading the fault and then resetting the light. Sold my mini so no longer needed! Check the for sale section drop me a PM.
