| MINI2 Newbie | Over valued or not? Hey guys. I am still searching for the perfect mini. I have found one but I can't decide if it is over valued. Its a mini cooper in black, Oct 2003, 26,000 miles, Chilli pack, black and red half leather, aircon, 17 inch cooper S alloys, Harman Kardon mini sound system, 1 owner, FSH. Seems like a pretty genuine motor. It is priced at £9,000 private. I would obviously haggle. What are people's opinions on the valuation. I have checked what car price, parkers guide etc etc but none of these take into account the high spec. Carol. |

![]() Hacking the IBUS | The only additinal spec really that books and car valuations don't take in to consideration would be the Harmon Kardon on that car. If it's in good condition, decent tyres etc, clean interior etc would make a good buy @ £8200, is it private or trade? |

Offline | Thats not too bad a price. When I listed my MINI for sale I expected to have offers rather than the asking price. £8,500 I say as its got low mileage for its age. Try and see what you can do. Sounds lovely though! Make sure its had all its appropriate TLC vouchers done. ![]() |

Offline | I'm paying £10k for a MCS on July 03 from BMW dealer, Full sunroof, chilli, heated seats, radio boost, AST-T & DSC, MFSW, cherished warranty, tlc + tlc xl, only downside is that its got 60k on the clock. when i was looking on auto trader i found most cars were overpriced and some where dearer that what the dealers were asking for, have you tried those? I think a cooper privatley should be around £8.5k Last edited by j53 : Nov 20th, 2007 at 03:45 PM. Reason: adding in text |

| MINI2 Newbie | Sounds like a nice car you are expecting. It appears to me that comparing the prices on the open market is very hard as it seems as though most are over pricing there mini's and they vary so much. Yes some privates are more expensive than privates. The question is are people actually acheieving close to the price they are advertising the car at? I might go have a look and see if the guy is willing to negiotiate. ![]() |

| MINI2 Newbie | No because I wasn't convinced on the red interior including red door cards. I just don't understand where people are getting there car valuations. Most private sellers are at least £1,000 over valuing there car compared to the internet valuers. Do people really achieve these prices? I understand mini's hold their value but surely the internet valuations would reflect this. ![]() |

![]() Hacking the IBUS | There are a few bargains if you look in the private ad's, second hand MINI's will always be over valued with the hope of being knocked down maybe £500. Alot of MINI's have extra options like sat nav, harmon kardon, vis pack-the book prices don't take these into account, so worth bearing that in mind too. |

| MINI2 Newbie | I'm looking at a similar mini.. well I am pretty much going for it. Mini Cooper (black) 2003, 46k miles, Chilli Pack, Black half leather, AC, Mini Bullet alloys, Full Cooper S body KIT, 2 owners (1 of which owned the car for only a couple of months) Its priced at £8000 .. ive knocked him down £500 to reach that price. Is this a half decent deal? Thanks |

| MINI2 Newbie | Since my last post I looked at the car and it was a complete dog. The steering colunm was knackered, all engine levels were below minimum, it car was covered in dirt, needed 2 new front tyres. Not well looked after. I am pleased to say I didn't get that car but got a beautiful facelift cooper with chilli pack, silver with a black panaromic roof, Black half leather, 16 inch standard rims, Digital climate control, mint, 13,000 miles so almost as good as new. I hope you enjoy your black mini. It sounds very nice. |

Offline | In my experience internet valuations do vary widely in the prices that they put on the cars, look for example at the difference between What Cars and Parkers valuations. It's also worth remebering they can only act as a guide, a car is worth what someone will pay for it. But good lick with finding a car, I'd say be picky, Minis are expensive cars and they'll be plenty of loved ones out there. |
