i finally got my gearbox sorted after six months of persistant phonecalls to mini...but now i have a noise coming from the engine bay..it seems to be a belt i think (fanbelt,altenator belt) or something its like a squeeling pig under the hood...im just wondering if anybody has had any problems or if someone could point me in the right direction to what it could possibly be..

Possibly a loose belt. My old 02 MINI had to have the alternator belt tightened as it was making a noise

Mine sounds like a squeeling pig aswell!! I thought it could be the fanbelt, but it could possible be the alternator belt as well.

How much would it cost for a new A.belt?
Or how much do they charge to tighten the little bugger up?!

I think they charged me about £17

I've got a similar problem, car is just over a year old and done 6k miles, noticed it a few weeks back and it's gradually got worse.

I'll be expecting it to be done under warranty along with replacing the rattly mirror caps.
