United-Kingdom Central Locking activates without key

Hi,

My Mini Cooper 02, has developed a problem with the central locking in the last week. It intermittently attempts to lock all doors when the car is already locked and I'm sat in the house.
The hazards flash as though I am using the remote key fob. This goes on through the night. It doesnt seem to stop. It goes on all through the day too. I cant stop it...

My guess is, its the cold weather and damp have got into the central locking device and has moisture in it and subsequently shorts out the electrics and causes a signal to be transmitted to lock the doors.

Any other suggestions, I'd be very grateful. Has anyone come across this before or heard of anyone having as similar problem?

Thank you!

Theres also the possibility that something is shorting in the remote keyfob. To isolate this, put key in a sealed metal box or as far away from car as possible & see if problem still occurs.
Although tbh I`d guess your 1st assumption is correct.

It could be the drivers door lock mechanism -they can be troublesome-try taking the door panel off ,reaching in and disconnecting the door lock plug at the bottom
